The results are in. Big winners were Birdman which took four gongs including Best Film and Best Director for Alejandro González Iñárritu and The Grand Budapest Hotel which bagged four awards, while Whiplash took three. Eddie Redmayne and Julianne Moore took Best Actor and Actress respectively. Less love than expected for Boyhood which got just the one award – for Patricia Arquette as Best Supporting Actress.

It was also an interestingly political Oscars – powerful speeches from Patricia Arquette, Oprah, Reese Witherspoon on the red carpet, Graham Moore (screenwriter of The Imitation Game) and Best Director Iñárritu himself. See the full list of winners below...
