The Lego Deku Tree has never been cheaper, which is great news for Legend of Zelda fans like me this Prime Day
It's finally happened: The Lego Legend of Zelda set has finally got a major discount

One of the most anticipated kits of the last year has finally got a major discount, and the Legend of Zelda Lego Deku Tree has come tumbling down to a record low price this Prime Day. Did somebody say timber?
If you're as big a Legend of Zelda fan as I am, you'll want to run to Amazon like you have a flock of cuccos behind you; the Lego Great Deku Tree is currently £212.40 at Amazon, down from £259.99. According to price-match software, it's literally never been cheaper than that. To translate: if you've had your eye on this model as well, you're not gonna get a better opportunity anytime soon (as part of this year's Prime Day Lego deals or otherwise). Seeing as it very rarely drops in price at all and has stubbornly rooted itself to RRP, that's not an opportunity to miss.

Save £47.59 - Considering how rarely this kit drops in price, such a massive 18% saving isn't to be sniffed at. The previous all-time low was £218ish, and the average cost is much closer to £246.
Buy it if:
✅ You're a diehard Zelda fan
✅ You adore Breath of the Wild or Ocarina of Time

I've been putting this set together myself recently, and part of the reason this kit is so appealing is its versatility. Rather than just creating a single scene, character, or diorama, it's a 2-in-1 model. As a result, you can make the Great Deku Tree from Ocarina of Time on N64 or the version from Switch's Breath of the Wild/Tears of the Kingdom. Rather than simply swapping out heads or body pieces to represent each version of Link and Zelda, you also get unique builds for each. That means you don't need to decide between them; if you'd like some for the main model and the others for your desk, that's an option.
Thanks to a wealth of Easter eggs, secrets, and references worthy of a Zelda dungeon, this becomes one of the best Lego sets for Zelda fans fast. Build the model as the N64 version and you'll find a Golden Skulltula lurking inside, for example. Meanwhile, Breath of the Wild fans can set up Hestu beside the Tree with his signature maracas. Numerous Koroks are scattered across the build too.
Although I'd initially expected to build the Ocarina of Time version because it was amongst my first Zelda games (pipped to the post only by Link to the Past), I've recently gone back to Breath of the Wild so can't bring myself not to make that Great Deku Tree. Besides being arguably more impressive to look at thanks to gorgeous spring-time leaves and a larger scene to accompany it, I'm a massive fan of Koroks so am very happy to make whatever lets me build the max number of the buggers. Link and Zelda's blue tunics really pop against the greens and browns of this model as well.
However, because the first thing you end up building is a standalone Young Link's treehouse from the opening of Ocarina, longtime fans like me can have our cake and eat it too. While the Breath of the Wild Deku Tree will be the main event on my shelf, I still have an ode to its N64 predecessor sat at my desk as I type this.
Anyway. Because this set hasn't ever fallen this low in price before, and seeing as it rarely drops in cost at all, I'd recommend diving in if you'd been waiting to grab the Lego Deku Tree; you're unlikely to see a better saving in the near future.
