A fan has gone ahead and made their own Lego Pokemon set, and the community seems to overwhelmingly agree that it's fantastic.
Not content to wait for more official models (we've only had a handful so far), hachiroku24 decided to take matters into their own hands by crafting a Magnemite using random pieces – and honestly, it looks good enough to be on display alongside the best Lego sets. As their post on reddit shows, it's to scale with the Eevee Lego Pokemon set so creates a nice display piece when shown off together.
There are three Lego Pokemon sets you can get your hands on right now; Pikachu, Eevee, and a triple-pack with Charizard, Venusaur, and Blastoise (all of these are available at Lego, though the starter evolutions set is on backorder). If you want something a bit cheaper, you can also get the Mega Pokemon range at Amazon.
Fellow fans are all over it. The top comment is "Omg this is perfect" Jealous_Acorn, and that seems to be the consensus. "Honestly looks official," agrees redsoxjesus, which is echoed by Zackca with "Looks just like an officially released set to me. Very great job. Now I want one." Frankly, same. It's certainly up there with the levitating Lego DeLorean from Back to the Future, anyway.
There's no word on when or if we'll be getting any more Lego Pokemon sets, but considering how well this first wave seems to have sold (the starter evolutions set is still on backorder, for example), I think another batch is inevitable. I'd certainly be down for it. Although we had mixed feelings about Lego Pikachu and Poke Ball, I adored Lego Eevee… to the point I gave it a full five stars in my review.

I've been writing about games in one form or another since 2012, but these days you'll find me managing GamesRadar+'s tabletop gaming and toy coverage (I spend my time here handling everything from board game reviews to the latest Lego news). I've also been obsessed with Warhammer since the 1990s, and love nothing more than running tabletop RPGs like D&D as a Dungeon Master.
