It’s up to boozy, pill-gobbling detective Susan Sarandon and big city rookie gumshoe Topher Grace to unravel the demented plot before the body count gets any higher.
More character-driven than gory, The Calling is a slow-burner, but it’s laced with pitch-black humour and appealing character quirks. When it finally arrives, the ending’s agreeably bonkers. Think Fargo with a slasher-movie twist.
