Humanity goes to war with some hostile off world being; the typical but perfect premise for a balls-out shooter like Novastrike. Check outthe screens.
Novastrike is a brand new game in development for PSN by Californian-based indie developer, Tiki Games.
It's an old-school top-down shooter with a Geometry Wars-style 360 movement mechanic, sweet machine guns (not prissy lasers) and giant ships that you blow up with meaty explosions.
Tiki Games describes Novastrike as "a sci-fi war zone that pits players against an onslaught by the world-conquering Draelus.
"From the cockpit of their experimental Scythe fighter, able pilots will utilize free-roaming flight and multiple weapon variations to combat an armada of alien forces in the air and on land."
You will do battle on different planetary environments, upgrading your ship as you go, as well as gathering and upgrading each of the nine weapons available in the game.
The game's got a vague but positive 2008 Quarter 2release, and Tiki Games promises further download content through the rest of the year.

It looks cool, although no mention of a multiplayer mode is a bummer.Check out the trailer:
