Other puzzles in the level required us to use the ASHPD's secondary feature, which allows you to carry small objects like boxes. In one instance we needed to create a portal on the ceiling- above a panel that needed to be depressed- and one on the floor nearby. We then picked up and dropped a small crate into the portal at our feet and watched as it fell through the ceiling across the room onto the panel ahead, allowing us to proceed.
Sounds simple? Sounds slow-paced? Although our brief hands-on time with the demo wasn't exactly action packed, the newest trailer for the game titled "Orientation video no. 1" foreshadows some furiously fast, mind-bending portal puzzles that has us excited to see more. Click on the Movies tab for a visual crash course in portal-ology and trip out as you watch yourself running through infinite portal loops.
Expect Portal to start messing with your mind later this fall. But even if you're not intrigued this futuristic head trip, you might want to consider letting Portal in your hard drive regardless, as it'll come bundled with Half-Life 2, Half-Life 2: Episode One, Half-Life 2: Episode Two, and Team Fortress 2 under the title Orange Box.
