Life is Strange 2 is an all new story about two runaway brothers - watch the trailer, plus info on release date and more

We've known it's been coming for a while, but we finally got a trailer and a release date for the next major entry in Dontnod's evocative franchise, Life is Strange. Life is Strange 2 will follow brothers Sean and Daniel as they make the journey from Seattle to Puerto Lobos, Mexico.

The Life is Strange 2 release date is this September

Episode 1 of Life is Strange 2 will be released on September 27, 2018 on PS4, Xbox One, and PC. You can pre-order it here.

The Life is Strange 2 story is set in the same universe, but focuses on new characters

Goodbye Max and Chloe, hello Sean and Daniel. You play as 16-year-old Sean Diaz, who seems to be the only caretaker for his 9-year-old brother Daniel, as the two travel along the sides of roads and through the wilderness to try and reach Mexico. The trailer hints at a dark reason for their journey, and that Sean might have some strange powers that rival Max's from the first Life is Strange.

As the big brother, Sean's actions will shape Daniel, which should make the game's tough choices even more stressful.

"The game will this time focus on brotherhood alongside the need to guide and educate your younger brother whilst simultaneously coming of age yourself," says Dontnod. "As with previous games in the series, Life is Strange 2 will tackle a host of issues that all of us can identify with and that will cause moral dilemmas and require much soul searching."

Dontnod is being shy for now, but promises that anyone who picked up its free spin-off, The Awesome Adventures of Captain Spirit, will see connections with Life is Strange 2. You can still download The Awesome Adventures of Captain Spirit for Xbox One, PS4, and PC.
