Afterworld is a new game from Crusader Kings 3 developer Paradox Development Studio, revealed at this year's Future Games Show at Gamescom.
It's set in a post-apocalyptic North America, the exact cause of which isn't known, that's full of wasteland survivors, ancient technology, and tyrants hellbent on reunifying the USA under one banner and crushing all resistance.

Afterworld is a brand new grand strategy game set in a semi-procedural, post-apocalyptic North America.
You start the game off as a simple band of survivors, doing what you can to survive as a small community that will soon expand into a tribe. Discovering old technology and meeting new factions is key to your expansion but you'll have to make plenty of tough moral choices along the way, with the society you create reflecting these choices.
As your Afterworld civilization expands, you'll also define the sort of empire you want to build, expanding through peaceful means or all-out conquest, or something in between.
Eventually your upstart empire will start brushing up against the ancient tyrants, leaders from before the apocalypse that have survived for centuries as ruthless warlords in command that you can try to conquer for their immense technology or even ally with for a mutually beneficial relationship.
The game will also support competitive and co-operative multiplayer, letting you team up with or duke it out with your friends in grand strategy gameplay. And if you want to radically alter the game, modding tools will let you change things to your liking.
Afterworld doesn’t yet have a release date, but you should get it on your Steam wishlist and follow the development studio and publisher over on Twitter for any updates and dev logs that they publish.
