Silver Pines got an all-new gameplay trailer at the Future Games Show Spring Showcase Powered by HyperX, giving us a fresh look at its very cool-looking mix of animation and unknowable terrors. Think indie comic (and cosmic) horror meets Alan Wake trapped in an unforgiving metroidvania. With tentacles. I think they were tentacles.
Silver Pines sees private investigator Red Walker exploring a forgotten and near abandoned town of the same name, trying to track down a missing musician called Eddie Velvet. It's a case that soon reveals a dark past as Red finds himself fighting to survive a nightmarish reality that's trying to stop him at every turn.
This slice of small town eldritch Americana all plays out as a tough metroidvania styled survival horror. Your inventory is limited, so everything you can find might make all the difference as you fight horrific monsters, and face imposing bosses that block your path to answers. All while solving puzzles and trying to piece together what's happening to you, and what has happened to the person you're trying to find
You choices and what you find as you explore will impact your chances of progress as much as survival. The town of Silver Pines is full of locked doors and hidden paths. As you find better tools, weapons, resources or more, the town slowly opens up, becoming more accessible in your search for the truth, and what happened to Eddie Velvet.
Silver Pines is set to release this year on Steam, PS5, Xbox Series X, and Nintendo Switch.
