The legend is back, so it's time to revisit a genre-defining RPG with the Gothic 1 Remake
The Gothic 1 Remake is out now, taking you back to the Valley of the Mines for a fully open world experience
Gothic originally came out back in 2001, and set the standard for RPGs at the time while receiving critical acclaim for its storyline and the interactive world built around it. As seen during the Future Games Show Summer Showcase, the Gothic 1 Remake is available now, so here's what you need to know about it.

In the world of Gothic, humans are fighting a losing battle against the Orcs, and to turn the tide of this war a magical ore needs to be mined so that more powerful weapons and armor can be forged. To secure this, the king orders every convict to be sent to the mines, and has magicians form a magical barrier to prevent these criminals from escaping their servitude.
However, things go wrong and the magic gets out of control, expanding the barrier and trapping everyone within the valley. During the confusion the prisoners rise up to seize control of the colony, and it's against this lawless backdrop that you arrive as the nameless hero. Here you must find your place among the competing camps, and the Brotherhood who are trying to summon an ancient god named the Sleeper to aid their escape.
In this faithful remake of the classic, you can throw yourself into an immersive experience where the world comes to life around you, allowing you to observe others as they go about their daily lives and decide if or when you want to intervene. With different factions to join that affect your abilities, many quests and secrets to discover, and fluid yet tactical combat system to master, do you have what it takes to survive?
Gothic 1 Remake is out now on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X, and you can find out more by following the game on X or joining the official Discord for the latest information.
