Don't Nod, the acclaimed studio behind the Life is Strange series, has unveiled a new trailer for new sci-fi game Aphelion.
The trailer, unveiled as part of the Future Games Show Spring Showcase Powered by HyperX, opens on a situation much further from home than many of the games the studio is best known for. In 2060, Earth is dying, and humanity's hopes for a new home rest in the recent discovery of a new planet in our solar system.
The trailer introduces us to that new planet, named Persephone for the Greek goddess of fertility. It has an atmosphere that can be breathed with the correct equipment, an electromagnetic field to provide stability, and most important of all, a mysterious heat source that could change its icy exterior into a world of free-flowing water.
We get a glimpse of the pair of scientists that star in Aphelion, and plenty of different navigation tools to allow them to get around Persephone's sheer ice cliffs. There's also a sense that making sure to keep on top of your reserves of breathable air will be important. Unfortunately, you also get the sense that this planet might not be as uninhabited as it originally seems - there's something moving around in the shadows, and it doesn't seem to be entirely friendly.
Aphelion is set to release pretty soon - a launch date is currently scheduled for April 28, 2026 - so you won't have to wait long before you're able to head to humanity's new home across Xbox Series X|S, PS5, and PC via Steam.
