Excuse me, Rockstar, will the 1,000 hours I poured into GTA Online cross over to GTA 6?

GTA Online

Yes, you read that right. I put around 1,000 hours into GTA Online since it launched, and I know it may be a pipe dream, but I'm sure I'm not the only one wondering if any of my time investment will be of use for the next GTA game?

It could happen, right? Our online characters could move to Vice City to start living the high life there? Or at least, we could carry over some of our vehicles to new online characters if they cross over to the new game?

Probably wishful thinking, I know. It's almost certainly going to be a fresh start.

Rockstar, if you're listening, feel free to butt in at any time to clarify this stuff, or at least admit to the existence of online mode coming soon after the game's launch.

As much as I'm joking around here, it could be useful to know before we pre-order. 1,000 hours is a lot, but I'm sure it's not much in comparison to people who have kept it as their main live service game for all these years.

Wondering about install size? So am I

GTA 6

If you're also asking the question, "How many GB will the GTA 6 install be?" I don't blame you.

With this much graphical detail, and what will surely be one of the biggest (if not the biggest) Rockstar open worlds ever created, there's bound to be a sizeable install size. Red Dead 2 came on two discs because one couldn't hold all the data, so an even more ambitious GTA 6 will likely be even larger.

That said, game devs have managed to whittle down install sizes in recent years compared to the late 2010s, so Rockstar may have been able to compartmentalize a bit. Either way, if you want to learn as much as we know about the GTA 6 install size, click the linked text above.

These retailers sure aren't running out of codes, folks

GTA Trilogy Big Head mode

I don't want to be too big-headed about it, but from the looks of things, these retailers aren't running out of stock of GTA 6 codes in boxes anytime soon.

Will they eventually run out of boxes to put the codes in? Much more likely.

Even so, having done another pass through the retailers, here are all the places you can pre-order GTA 6 standard edition right now.

US

UK

Keep in mind that if you're looking for the Ultimate Edition with all those in-game bonuses, you can only pre-order directly from the Xbox or PlayStation digital stores.

Thanks Newegg, thanks a lot

Lucia leaves prison in GTA 6 trailer 2

The last few days, I've been keeping an eye on Newegg's Fantastech sale. While you can't pre-order GTA 6 from the retailer, it has been dropping discounts on in-store credit for all of the gaming console virtual stores. It started with a $100 Xbox voucher, which you could get for $83, then a Switch $100 eShop wallet top-up for $85.

Today? Today, it's a PlayStation Store gift card, which is just a tad more extreme. Pay $250, get $30.01 back if you use the promo code.

On one hand, that'd be more than enough to cover the Ult Edition of GTA 6 two times over, but it's a lot more than you really need to spend. If you really wanted to see the value in this deal, it might help new PS5 owners grab a PS Plus subscription for less while also grabbing a pre-order of GTA 6's Ultimate Edition, but even then, you're only getting $30 on your $250 purchase.

Wouldn't it be more convenient to also give PS5 owners the same $100 coupon deal? No, that'd be too easy.

Speaking of PlayStation, Sony really keeps baiting its Instagram followers with the next trailer while encouraging people to pre-order

Sony has uploaded another trailer of the cover art reveal video, just in case you thought it might finally be the third trailer for the game.

The comments are interesting though. They range from "no disc, no buy" to people asking PlayStation to just drop the next trailer already, and people expressing excitement over pre-ordering already.

No matter what, isn't it nice that we all have a game to come together about??

...I have no idea why I expected Sony to drop the trailer for GTA 6 when I also follow Rockstar. I feel like I've been rickrolled.

PSA: The PS5's "ultra-high speed SSD" is not that fast, actually

Samsung 990 PRO SSD

I just wanted to clear up some blatant Sony marketing speak from earlier this week, as a post on the PlayStation blog said, "Grand Theft Auto VI also leverages the PS5’s ultra-high speed SSD, enabling you to experience the expansive world of Leonida with near-instant load times."

This was in a post titled, "Grand Theft Auto VI plays best on PS5 November 19", and generally read a bit more like an advert for a PS5 console than anything truly tangible about how GTA has been especially curated for Sony's machine.

Either way, as someone who has reviewed multiple of the best SSDs for PS5, I'd like to just fact-check the blog post and say that the "ultra-high speed SSD" inside the console really isn't that fast compared to a lot of the storage drives you can put in its additional internal slot. The PS5's main SSD generally leaps up to the ~5,500MB/s mark, while a lot of its compatible drives reach the 7000s in their read speeds.

Moreover, unlike gaming PCs, the PS5's PSU can't divert power to the storage bays in order to truly make use of NVMe SSD architecture, so in reality, you're not going to see much faster loading times on PS5 than you likely will on Xbox. I'm sure loading times will still be fast, don't get me wrong, but maybe not drastically faster

I won't get into what'll happen when PC gamers with gen 5 SSDs get a hold of the game, but either way, I hope this might help to clear up some of those bold claims in case it sways anyone out there considering buying one console over the other especially for the game's arrival.

Will GTA 6 cause console shortages?

A new report by The Game Business has suggested that PS5 and Xbox consoles could be difficult to come by in November, with GTA 6's launch meaning "demand will likely outstrip supply." The site spoke with anonymous senior games buyers at a retail outlet, who states that they have "been informed that because of the ongoing issues around hardware component availability, we won't be getting the units we want ahead of GTA."

If you've been holding off on an upgrade ahead of GTA it might be time to start thinking about diving in. With console prices themselves increasing, though, I'd only recommend considering refurbished units. You'll find PS5 Slim and PS5 Digital Edition consoles for as little as $499 at PS Direct. Brand new, they'll cost you a minimum of $600.

And there's Currys' stock!

Currys has finally dropped its GTA 6 pre-orders, a little late admittedly.

Still, if you're yet to secure your copy and you're interested in scoring up to two months of Apple Music, Apple Fitness+, and Apple Arcade for free this is where you need to be. It's worth noting, however, that Currys is still citing a November 19 delivery date - when ideally you'd want that to be November 12 to get your preload up and running.

PS5: £69.99 at Currys

Will it really just be a code in the box?

GTA 5

While I assume one of the reasons Rockstar wants to keep things down to codes in boxes for launch is to save on the cost of printing discs, and to ensure there isn't a massive supply shortage, I do wonder...

One of my favorite things about opening up my copies of GTA V, GTA 4, Read Dead 2, and every other Rockstar Game was that you get more than the game in the box. I remember getting maps for the games, posters, an in-depth manual, or some stickers. Will that be the case this time around, or will we really just be getting a lackluster code pamphlet in the box?

Pre-order now, or wait for a gameplay trailer and physical editions? Allow me to talk you through the dilemma

The protagonist of GTA 4 holding his hand out in front of a Diner

It's a real dilemma. On one hand, you've got a GTA game, and those have always been safe bets, so pre-ordering makes a lot of sense. Not only has the quality of Rockstar's games always been good, but the FOMO is hitting hard. This could go on to be one of the fastest and best-selling games of all time, so if you're a gamer who doesn't play it at launch, you might feel a bit left out.

That said, some of the most heavily anticipated games of all time have flunked at launch, or have just not been what we thought they'd be (No Man's Sky, Cyberpunk, you know the ones). Without gameplay being shown, without physical editions, is it worth pre-ordering GTA 6 now, or waiting until we know more?

We do now have confirmation that physical editions will be arriving in the future, so that could be something to hold off for if you like to collect your games and put them on the shelf (and own more than a license for them).

GTA 6

It's wild that Rockstar has opened up pre-orders before showing off that long-awaited gameplay trailer - we haven't seen anything new about this game in a year besides those recently released screenshots.

All of this could be racing around your head as that pre-order button tempts you - do you pre-order now, or wait a little while longer?

The good thing about the pre-orders being digital-only or codes in a box is that we aren't going to run out. Besides a shortage of plastic game boxes, it's sort of impossible for that to happen. And one way or another, a gameplay trailer will arrive before launch, so I really don't think there's any harm in waiting.

I also see the other side of the equation. If you can't hold your excitement in, or you don't see any need to, then pre-order away!

A friend of mine had a success story to share

Two GTA 6 characters gasp at a phone screen

A pal of mine in my Discord server shared his success story with pre-ordering GTA 6 today. It's not going to be applicable to everyone, but this tactic could be of use if you game share with a friend.

He has a standing game share deal with his friend where they go halve-sies on the games they buy so they can share them with one another. Then, using ShopTo's PlayStation Store voucher deals, which we've already pointed you toward, he and his friend bought the Ultimate Edition of GTA 6 for just £37.85 each.

So I guess if you want to use the Ryan method, it's time to hit up the phone book. Know anyone who could be in for a fun pre-order heist?

Why are the Ultimate Editions only available on virtual storefronts?

PSN

I'm sure there are many reasons Rockstar and Take Two have made the decision to only make Ultimate Editions of GTA 6 available for pre-order on digital storefronts. One reason might be that it cuts out other retailers as middle-men, another could be that there are deals with Sony and Microsoft for exclusivity in this regard? Another could be that it cuts out the pre-owned market which ensures Take Two is profiting from each and every sale of the game.

Let's hope that when physical, disc copies of the game do arrive, which was confirmed in the last day or two, that we also get an expanse of ways to order the Ultimate Edition from other sources.

I don't think we need to worry about stock issues here

Rideout Customs mod shop screenshot showing someone working underneath a yellow car from GTA 6

If you're unsure whether to commit to pre-ordering GTA 6 just yet, I have good news; I don't think there's any danger of it going out of stock. Yes, it's the most popular game release of the year. Or, should that be decade? Anyway. Rockstar and publisher 2K seem to have flooded the market with copies of this game, and they're all digital codes anyway, so at worst we can always buy it from the PlayStation/Xbox store. In other words? Don't stress, you won't miss out.

Do they have BMXs in GTA 6? I have a stupid idea

GTA 6

What's your preferred form of chaos in GTA? Personally, I can't remember enjoying anything more than when I decided to become a BMX menace. I stole someone's push-bike, then rode around the town causing trouble on a bicycle that made me feel like clown music should have been playing in the background. I certainly didn't make a quick getaway from the police, that's for sure.

Tackling buyer's remorse, one Ultimate Edition at a time

Worried about changing your mind about upgrading from Standard to Ultimate Edition? So long as you buy on PlayStation, it seems as though you can do so. We had a look via VPN and it seems as though there's an upgrade option, so you needn't miss out if you don't want to.

What are you looking forward to most from GTA 6?

GTA 6

What are you looking forward to the most with GTA 6? For me, it's not necessarily the story or the mischievous carnage I'm looking forward to most; it's just... wandering around. As I mentioned earlier, the worlds Rockstar creates are always so intricate and detailed that it's a real vibe just to explore them.

Naturally, I'm looking forward to GTA Online to hit this game as well. My fondest memories of GTA V were mucking about with my friends online, and the same will likely be true here.

A criminal playground, or something more?

GTA 6 locations?

If there's one thing we can say for sure about GTA 6, it's that it'll be absurdly detailed. Rockstar's game worlds tend to be absolutely crammed with life and every single element feels hand-crafted, to the point that it feels living and breathing in a way few other settings do. However, that said, we're hoping it's more than just a criminal playground; as noted by contributor Fran Ruiz, GTA 6 deserves more than Vice City, and I hope Rockstar takes cues from Red Dead Redemption 2.

Will we see any familiar faces?

GTA: Vice City protagonist Tommy Vercetti walks out of the Oceanview club while wearing a grey suit and wielding a pistol in his rand hand

Something I always wonder is whether any previous characters are going to make an appearance in new GTA games. Because we're going back to Vice City, could we see some of that supporting cast reappear? If they do, they'll certainly be a lot older; Vice City was set in the '80s, whereas GTA 6 seems to take place in the modern day.

How massive is this game gonna be?

GTA 6 locations - Mount Kalaga National Park

Just how big is the map for GTA 6 going to be? Judging by the sleuthing fans have been able to do, massive. In our guide to the GTA 6 map, we've got an approximation of what this game's setting will be like - and it's fairly jaw-dropping.

Sorry online fans, it looks like a single-player experience only for now

GTA 6 Lucia

Judging by what Rockstar has said so far, GTA 6 Online looks unlikely for launch; the developer has referred to the project as a "single-player experience" that happens to be "set in the biggest, most immersive evolution of the series yet." However, don't panic; we know a new version of GTA Online is on the way, and if you cast your mind back, GTA 5 got its online mode two weeks after launch.

Tell me a tale

GTA 6 protagonists Lucia and Jason stand poised for a confrontation, with both of them holding a gun while Lucia also carries a briefcase

In terms of what the story's actually about in GTA 6, it follows the Bonnie and Clyde-esque Jason and Lucia as they become embroiled in the "middle of a criminal conspiracy stretching across the state of Leonida" (AKA a fictional version of Florida). This all begins after a job goes south; more specifically, "when an easy score goes wrong, they find themselves on the darkest side of the sunniest place in America."

Onto the next chapter

GTA 6

If you didn't hear already, GTA 6 is following Red Dead Redemption 2's footsteps in how it breaks up the story; it's using chapters. Indeed, the Ultimate Edition teases that "Ultimate Edition bonuses are threaded across all aspects of Jason and Lucia's story, with new items uncovered behind each chapter." RDR2 divided its map into sections that you explored across different chapters, so it feels likely that GTA 6 will do the same thing.

When will GTA 6 arrive on PC?

A wide shot of Vice City in GTA 6

Do you play on PC? Sorry, friend: you'll need to wait a while for GTA 6 to turn up. At the time of writing, the game is only available for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, with no mention of a PC release. However, I think we can safely assume that'll show up at some point; it usually does. I'd expect it to be landing on your rig in about a year or so, which isn't ideal but is surely better than nothing.

Have you pre-ordered GTA 6 yet?

GTA 6 reveal trailer screenshot showing a young blonde woman standing near a sunny rooftop pool, wearing a white and gold bikini

Have you managed to pre-order the game yet? Shout about it by voting in the poll below. If you haven't, is there anything you're particularly waiting for? I can understand holding off in case a discount appears down the road, for example. Because the game arrives before Black Friday, there may be a chance we see an offer during that sale.

Wait, when is GTA 6 coming out anyway?

GTA 6 key art showing Jason and Lucia against a sunwashed Vice City backdrop

So, when is GTA 6 dropping? If you haven't heard about when it's due to land, mark off November 19 on your calendar; that's when it's set to arrive on both Xbox and PS5.

Will it eventually get a physical disc edition? Is it going to land on PC at any point? Probably, but only time will tell for both. It's unlikely we'll see either of those before 2027.

EE is bringing the goods

Image of two PS5 consoles on top of an official piece of GTA 6 artwork.

While we're on the subject of consoles, UK fans are in luck as EE just dropped a pair of offers that are surprisingly good value. For example, you can get the PS5 Pro with GTA 6 for £808 (EE), a saving of £51 overall compared to buying both separately.

You're saving a similar amount if you grab the PS5 Slim with disc drive and GTA 6; it's currently £588 at EE.

PS5 and Xbox Series X/S only, sorry

GTA 6

Yes, you heard right; GTA 6 will only be on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. That means you'll have no choice but to upgrade if you want to play the game, as it's not available on anything else. Sorry, PS4 and Xbox One gamers - you're getting left behind.

The one thing to be aware of when upgrading is that prices have recently increased due to the industry parts shortage caused by AI data centers. It's also worth noting that there are two options for both consoles: with a disc drive or without. While I'd normally recommend opting for a disc-drive console because it allows you to take full advantage of sharing physical game discs, the pre-owned market, and more, it doesn't make much of a difference here; physical copies of GTA 6 come as a code, not as a disc.

Have you decided which edition you'll be getting?

GTA 6

Which version of the game are you going to be picking up? The standard, no-frills one, or the Ultimate Edition with those extras? I'm torn - on the one hand, it's a lot of cash to upgrade. But on the other, it does seem to unlock plenty of cool gear for the game.

What do we think about the Ultimate Edition goodies?

GTA 6 trailer 2

Speaking of those extras, we have thoughts about them here at GamesRadar+ HQ. While I'm personally pretty happy to get new toys I can play with, our own Dustin Bailey says that he should hate GTA 6's pre-order bonuses and Ultimate Edition add-ons, but is glad Rockstar seems to be avoiding the big problem with game-breaking DLC. Amen to that! It's avoiding overpowered weaponry that you often see provided with deluxe editions, and they have a habit of ruining that initial playthrough.

What do you get with the Ultimate Edition

GTA 6 protagonist Lucia points a gun at someone while wearing a mask

If you plump for the $100 Ultimate Edition, there's a lot of free gear included. That runs from vehicles like the 1995 Grotti Cheetah and Dinka Enduro Motorcycle to the Crest Kayak. You're also getting plenty of stylish upgrades for your character via clothing, but the things that interest me most are the businesses. You're getting Rideout Customs Vehicle Shop, Sara’s Unisex Salon, the Electric Fang Tattoo Shop, One-Eyed Willie’s Mod Shop, and Stock 305 Clothing Store. In other words, there's plenty of reason to consider spending a little more here.

Give me a sitrep, dammit

GTA 6

So, what's the current situation? I've done a full sweep of all the major retailers out there, and things are pretty much the same as they were yesterday; nobody's running out of stock, and GTA 6 is up for pre-order in most areas. Well, apart from Currys in the UK. That's the one store I've not seen hide nor hair of the game yet, which is a bit weird.

Welcome to the party, pal

A pair of revolvers featured in GTA 6 on a table

Morning everyone! We're back at it again for another day of GTA pre-order tracking. Welcome back, and I'm happy you're here to follow along with us!

Will GTA 6 ever go physical?

There's a lot of speculation that GTA 6 may receive a physical disc release in the months following launch, kicked off by reports that users have received emails hinting as much. There's a lot of salt to take with this news.

A screenshot of a support email is currently doing the rounds, but there's not too much verification surrounding the claim. It's also been backed up by Italian site PPE, with reported leaks from "Graczdari" appearing to confirm the timeline. Again, this is all one heavy rumor right now.

That Collector's Edition is probably still incoming

GTA 6 pre-orders launched without so much as a nod towards Collector's Editions, and lord knows Rockstar could sell them. Many, however, are fearing it's going the way of Red Dead.

RDR 2 didn't go down the conventional Collector's Edition route either, instead launching a bundle of goodies that came without the game itself. Yes it was about half the price of regular bundles these days, but it nevertheless kept any kind of game case or steelbook out of the equation.

Walmart has the correct November 12 shipping date in the US

For all that concern about US GTA 6 pre-orders seemingly stuck on the November 19 shipping date, it looks like Walmart's listings have things in the right order. The retailer is listing PS5 and Xbox Series X cases with the preload date as the release, indicating you're safe to assume you're getting the download code in time to get everything set up for the big day.

No, GTA 6 isn't going to run out of stock

Panic across the internet today as Amazon briefly appeared to run out of GTA 6 stock. Then it flashed back up on the screen - this was probably an automated failsafe for high demand pages, or something...?

In truth, there's no real way for GTA 6 to actually run out of stock. It's a digital game, and even if retailers run out of cases it'll always be sitting there on your Xbox or PS5. There's no need to believe the fear-mongering about resellers.

Watch out for GTA 6 scams

One cruel fact of the world; where's there's excitement there are scammers. GTA 6 is no different.

A number of players have reported receiving GTA 6 early access invites, membership offers, and even propositions of full-game unlocks in all the buzz today. Doubly important to check the validity of your comms and verify anything you receive through email. Just remember, if something looks too good to be true it probably is.

Ok there is one pre-order bonus from Best Buy

GTA 6

Best Buy is running an offer that nets you a $50 credit when you both pre-order GTA 5 and buy a new console. That's going to be niche, but if you've been waiting for the new release to upgrade your device it might have popped up on your feed. Unless you want to pay $650 for a new PS5, though, I'd recommend taking a look at the brand's Geek Squad Recertified PS5, it's $499.99 right now - much less than you'll find elsewhere (for a disc model at least).

See the full offer at Best Buy

Microsoft sure picked its moment to announce Xbox price hikes

xbox series x

... again

The brand announced via its now-dreaded Xbox Wire blog that Xbox consoles will jump in price by $100 for 512GB versions (the Series S) and $150 for 1TB versions (the Series X). That's coming just as many will be looking to take the leap to the new generation, and makes the full-fat console $799.99 - $150 more expensive than the PS5. Looks like Sony might make some new fans after all.

Why I'd prioritize Amazon for GTA 6 pre-orders

At least in the UK.

You'll notice once difference on Amazon's GTA 6 pre-order listing across the pond. While everywhere else is advertising release day delivery on November 19 (the release day), Amazon can get your order to you for November 12 instead (that's pre-load day). It makes sense, otherwise there's no benefit to getting GTA 6 lined up and ready to go at the crack of dawn.

Nobody's offering their own GTA 6 pre-order deals

GTA 6

One thing that is missing from today's GTA 6 pre-orders is extra bonuses. I know we're all getting that Vice City pack, but I often see retailers trying to tempt players over to their side with extras to sweeten the deal. It's normally cheap merch, steelbooks and the like - but there's not even a gift card going right now.

No mention of GTA Online just yet

GTA Online looks set to stick with GTA V for now? That's what Rockstar might have us believe after staying pretty much silent over the future of the service since it announced its new title. In fact, it's explicitly gone in the opposite direction, clearly positioning GTA 6 as a 'single player experience'.

It looks like whatever multiplayer option comes our way, it's likely going to be reserved for a future update, or an entirely separate entity all together.

What can I play GTA 6 on?

GTA 6 characters from trailer 2

(Image credit: Rockstar Games / Take-Two)

Wondering what platforms you can get GTA on? At the time of writing, it's just two consoles - PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. Sorry, PC owners and Switch fans; you're gonna have to sit out on it for now.

I doubt that'll stay the case for too long, especially not with PC. GTA instalments tend to make their way to PC eventually, and I'm sure that'll be the case here in time.

Where should you pre-order GTA 6?

Two GTA 6 characters gasp at a phone screen

In terms of where I would shop right now, I don't think there's a huge benefit from being picky; almost every single retailer is providing exactly the same service. As such, I would go to the one you like best. If you have Prime, for example, Amazon is probably the place to be because then you can take advantage of fast and free shipping (though I expect with a cost that high, you'll get free shipping with most retailers anyway). Basically, pick your poison. Unlike usual for game releases, I'm not seeing any retailer-specific bonuses (like the ones Amazon often provides).

What are you most looking forward to?

GTA 6 Shitzu Squalo boat in an in-game screenshot from Rockstar

What's the thing you're most looking forward to in GTA 6? Personally, I can't wait until we get multiplayer going. Some of my fondest memories of GTA V were running around with my friends causing absolute chaos. I'm pretty sure we stole one each of the emergency services vehicles to drive around, yelling at other players for breaking the law.

Is there going to be a special collector's edition?

GTA 6

Is it possible that we'll get a special collector's edition of GTA 6 down the road? I mean, if they haven't announced one so far, I'm doubtful. On the one hand, I'm surprised; it feels as though this series is wildly popular enough that a copy coming with exclusive merch or perks would sell like nobody's business.

On the other, I suppose I get it. This thing is gonna sell like hotcakes anyway, so is there a need to bring out a special version? I suppose not.

Things seem to have settled down a bit

GTA 6 locations?

Now that we're a few more hours in, I've had a quick glance through the current retailer lineup - no new stores have joined the fight, and everyone still has stock. There don't seem to be any good discounts going either, beyond a few pence off at ShopTo UK.

Speaking of the UK, it's rather baffling that we're still waiting for Currys to join the fun. What's the hold up?

Who's pre-ordered the game so far?

GTA 6 Cal Hampton in a pool on a pink flamingo float

So, onto the big question: have you pre-ordered GTA 6 yet? If you haven't, are you waiting for potential special editions or a disc version? Make sure you let your voice be heard by voting below.

To disc or not to disc

Rap duo Real Dimez in GTA 6 stand in front of microphones

Let's talk about the fact that the physical copy of the game for a second. As noted before, it doesn't come with a disc - it's a purely digital code. That means you're essentially getting... well, a fancy box and not much else. If you enjoy having something on the shelf, that likely won't be a problem. But otherwise, is it a bit of waste? It also means you can't actually trade the thing in should you so choose, or at least I assume so.

What are your thoughts on this?

You can already redeem your one month GTA+ pre-order bonus

GTA Plus

If you just grabbed your GTA 6 pre-order today from the official PlayStation store and were curious what to do with that "one month of GTA+ offer", well you can actually redeem it right now.

The official Sony PlayStation website states that all you have to do is visit the GTA+ product page and follow the on-screen instructions to claim your free month. Just be wary that some fans are reporting that this free month automatically renews, so it's best to write down the day before your month is up to ensure you don't get charged.

ShopTo has dropped its GTA 6 pre-order price by *checks notes* 14p

You aren't going to find deals and discounts on the price of GTA 6 today, or until at least many, many months have passed after its November 19 release date. That being said, ShopTo does have the game available for £69.85 rather than £69.99, which is at least better than nothing?

That extra few pennies isn't going to be hugely noticeable on your bank statement, but I thought I'd bring it to your attention nonetheless.

I can't stop thinking about that GTA 6 PS5 Pro bundle

I don't need a PS5 Pro. I don't need a PS5 Pro. I don't need a PS5 Pro.

I can type that a million times, and yet I don't think it's going to quite quell my want for the upgraded console, especially when EE has GTA 6 bundles out in the wild.

Right now, EE has a PS5 Pro console bundle, which comes with a PS5 copy of GTA 6 available for £808 (EE). When you factor in the £789.99 cost of the console and the £69.99 MSRP of the game alone, you're essentially saving £51 - a saving that is starting to get too difficult to ignore.

Another UK retailer joins in on the GTA 6 pre-order fun

It's not like there weren't enough places with plenty GTA 6 pre-order stock already, but now UK retailer John Lewis is stocking both the PS5 and Xbox Series X Standard Edition versions of the game.

The retailer is also throwing in "free named delivery" whether you grab the PS5 or Xbox version, which they state is "usually £7.95 for this product." If that all sounds good to you, check out the links down below:

Want that GTA 6 Ultimate Edition? It's still a PS5 and Xbox store exclusive

As the day goes on, it appears that GTA 6 Ultimate Edition is still a digital-only pick up that's unique to the PS6 and Xbox storefronts.

They're both still in stock if you turn on your consoles and have a look, or you can check out the links I've gathered below to secure yours without having to power-up your pixel-pusher in this summer heat.

I'm holding out hope for a GTA 6 limited edition DualSense, but just a new controller will do for now

PS5 DualSense controller and PS5 Astro Bot Limited Edition DualSense controller on a wooden table

I really hope that we'll see an official Grant Theft Auto 6 Limited Edition DualSense controller launch shortly before the game's November 19 release date.

Just imagine the pink, purple, and orange subset color palette spread across a PS5 gamepad - it'd be a glorious sight to behold. So far, Rockstar has announced nothing of the sort, but I still might invest in a new pad before GTA 6 lands, as my current ones are beginning to show their age.

If you're also in the market for a new PS5 pad, they're available for $74 at Amazon US right now and 9% off at Amazon UK. Sadly, the past LE controllers aren't included in that tiny saving, but I fear stick drift so much that I'm willing to grab just another plain, ol' white PS5 pad.

PS5 DualSense controller: $74 (Amazon) / £59.02 (Amazon)

There's another PS5 GTA 6 bundle where that came from

If you don't quite have the budget to stretch for a PS5 Pro, EE has a similar bundle deal which includes the disc edition PS5 Slim instead.

You basically get the console and a copy of GTA 6 for £588 (EE), which the retailer states will save you £49.99.

Actually, it's even better than that. When you factor in the PS5 Slim Disc Edition £569.99 new price, and the £69.99 cost of the PS5 copy of the game, you're actually saving £51.98 instead. It's a tiny difference to be fair, but every little bit counts in an age where gaming is getting pricier by the day.

GTA 6 console bundles are now a thing - and there's actually value to be found if you want a PS5 Pro

Screenshot of a GTA 6 PS5 Pro bundle at EE.

After the last wave of PS5 console price increases, I wasn't too sure if we'd see any GTA 6 console bundles anytime soon.

Yet EE has dropped a PS5 Pro console bundle that comes with the Standard Edition GTA 6 game on PS5 for £808 (EE) today.

To break it down: the PS5 Pro retails for £789.99 in the UK, meanwhile, GTA 6 is available for £69.99 on the PS5. If you were to buy them separately, you'd be expected to pay £859.98, so you're saving £51 here, which isn't too shabby.

GTA 6 pre-order UK stock update - there's plenty PS5 and Xbox copies to go around!

It's coming up for lunch time, so I thought I'd look around and do a quick stock update, and what you look at that, there's plenty to go around, whether you want a Standard Edition PS5 or Xbox Series X copy of GTA 6.

While there was a little moment in the early hours of the morning where US stock in Amazon was unavailable, you should have no issue getting hold of the game there and at the UK Amazon online store. You know, besides the fact that you have to settle for a 'physical' copy with a download code inside.

Personally, I grabbed my PS5 GTA 6 pre-order at Amazon, but it's entirely up to you where you get yours, as the pre-order extras will be entirely the same - unless you want to grab the Ultimate Edition via the PlayStation and Xbox stores instead.

GTA 6 could get a version with a disc in the future, which is good for us physical game fans

I don't want to break up your GTA 6 pre-order shopping too much, but I thought I'd let you know that GamesRadar's Scott McCrae just reported that Polish outlet PPE shared that GTA 6 might get a physical release with a disc in the future.

According to the site's source, the download code in a box run (that's available now through the links above) is for the original run, while an option for a disc edition may come afterwards. I sure hope that's the case, as it feels like a waste of plastic to receive an empty box, despite how pretty the box is.

Although I can't talk, as that's exactly what copy is going to arrive at my door when the November 19 launch day arrives.

US GTA 6 pre-order stock is looking stacked

Most people in the US will be asleep right now, but if you're somehow up and eager to grab a copy of GTA 6, you'll be happy to know you've got plenty of choices.

Pretty much all the main retailers have the Standard Edition available for both the PS5 and Xbox Series X, so you have your pick. If you already have a Prime membership, however, I recommend sticking with Amazon for now.

It'll be easier to keep track of your order the closer we get to the November 19 release day, as Amazon has a pretty dependable tracking system. Not to mention, if you're already getting most of your shopping done at Amazon, it'll be easier to keep tabs on it alongside everything else you've bought.

Ultimately, it's entirely up to you. I'd just recommend you grab the game sooner rather than later, as stock could start to dwindle later on, and once more people in the US start getting out of bed. Look, people still want that download code in a box, what can I tell you.

I gave in and grabbed my PS5 GTA 6 pre-order right now, roll on November 19

I'm a physical game girlie, so I'm very much annoyed that there's no disc in the box when it comes to GTA 6. However, that didn't stop me from putting in my pre-order right now.

I stuck with Amazon, as I have a Prime membership and they've been pretty great all year round at ensuring I get my games on release day - which is exactly how I like it.

Could I have been even more prepared and grabbed it from my PS5's integrated store, as it's going to be a digital download either way? Yes, but I'm a sucker for a pretty box, and the box art for GTA 6 is pretty wonderful.

GTA 6 Ultimate Editions remain exclusive to the PS5 and Xbox storefronts for now

It's highly likely you've clicked on any of the US and UK links above and thought to yourself, "where's that Ultimate Edition?"

Well, it's only on the official PlayStation and Xbox online and console stores for now. While the name "Ultimate Edition" conjures up an image of a physical game that's jam-packed with physical video game tat, it's instead a digital-only release that provides special vehicles, weapons, in-game clothing and access to certain in-game stores locked behind a $99.99 / £89.99 paywall.

Or at least it is for now, as from all my morning spent sleuthing I cannot find it available at any US or UK retailers besides the digital storefronts confined to the consoles themselves.

Heads up - that PlayStation Gift Card deal is still live

If the disappointment of the 'download code a in box' situation as got you opting for a digital copy of GTA 6, I have some news that might cheer you up - you can save £9 off your pre-order if you grab this ShopTo PlayStation Gift Card deal.

The gist of it is that ShopTo is selling a PlayStation Gift Card worth £70 for just £60.85 instead, which is just enough to grab the £69.99 Standard Edition digital copy of GTA 6. While you'd only be paying a little over £60 today, you still get £70 worth of credit to add to your account.

I'd personally still prefer I could get my hands on a physical copy with a disc inside, but I'd gladly take this over nothing at all.

Still no stock at Currys

Of all the UK retailers, Currys has yet to drop its GTA 6 pre-orders.

I get this is a bit of a bummer if you like to do all your game and tech shopping through the iconic UK store, but it's not too surprising. On GamesRadar+, I spend a lot of my time covering big new game releases, and Currys (and occasionally Argos) is that one UK retailer that tends not to stock every single new release, and if it does, it can take a few days for its listings to go live.

Of course, GTA 6 isn't just any old game release and is the most highly anticipated game of 2026, so I suspect it'll be out by tea time. Or at least I hope it will.

GTA 6 pre-orders: Check stock at Currys

Don't get confused at Amazon UK like I did - there's plenty of stock

I was finally about to secure my own copy of GTA 6 on PS5 now that I'm more awake and I've had my coffee, but was greeted by a confusing sight.

Instead of the normal "add to basket" button I've seen on all the PS5 orders I've made in the past, the page looks like it's seemingly sold out, but that is definitely not the case. Once I clicked on the "see all buying options" button, I was able to grab my GTA 6 pre-order with ease.

I thought I'd let you know, in case you were also a bit confused, too, as its official Amazon page makes it appear as though stock is gone entirely, and not hidden under a separate sub-menu.

GTA 6 pre-order: £69.99 at Amazon

Good morning UK!

If you've just woken up, let me be the one to share the good news - GTA 6 pre-orders are here, and there are plenty of places where you can secure your copy on the PS5 or Xbox Series X.

Feel free to scroll above where we've gathered (and updated) all the best UK retailers to grab your copy. Or if you're too lazy, let me lay out some of the major retailers with stock that's ready to go down below:

Amazon is back in the game

It looks like Amazon US has uncovered more pre-order stock of GTA 6 Standard Edition. It was unavailable for about an hour there, which is either a mistake or a sign that the boxed version of this game is going to be hard to come by in the weeks ahead. Either way, it isn't a bad idea to get your pre-order for Grand Theft Auto 6 on PS5 locked in now – if you have $79 to spare, of course.

Where to pre-order GTA 6 Ultimate Edition?

GTA 6 Ultimate Edition screenshot

We've done a lot of pre-order hunting for the GTA 6 Standard Edition today for the US and UK, but what about the Ultimate Edition I hear you ask? Rockstar decided to keep the GTA 6 Ultimate Edition as a digital-only product, meaning you'll need to head over to one of the official storefronts to lock in the purchase – which does, truth be told, appear to be worth the extra $20. Here's where you need to go:

Argos UK puts pre-orders live

For my friends in the United Kingdom, there's still stock of GTA 6 available from all of the usual places. In fact, you've now got another option as Argos finally brings stock of the physical Standard Edition online.

Amazon has sold out!

Amazon sells out of GTA 6

Here's an update I was expecting to make: Amazon US has sold out of stock of GTA 6 Standard Edition on PS5.

The Xbox version does still appear to be available, but there's no telling for how long.

There are still other locations that you can purchase a physical edition of GTA 6 on PS5, which is a delightful code in a box, if you're located in the US.

Remember, you can also still grab a digital edition direct from PlayStation too!

Best Buy wants to play

It's taken a little while to come online, but the Standard Edition of GTA 6 is finally available for both PS5 and Xbox Series X via Best Buy. Remember, boxed copies only contain a download code!

Vibe Check

With GTA 6 pre-orders now live for the Standard Edition and digital-exclusive Ultimate Edition at most major retailers, it's worth taking a breath – have you got yours locked in?

While the Standard Edition at $79.99 is certainly more reasonably priced, I can't deny that the $99.99 Ultimate Edition is stacked with a lot of great extras – from exclusive missions and activities to unique cosmetics and stores to access. I'm Ultimate Edition all the way! But how about you?

Walmart has finally woken up

It's taken a little while, but Walmart has finally put GTA 6 pre-orders for both PS5 and Xbox Standard Editions online. If this is your preferred retailer, click one of the links below:

Target is live!

Not wanting to be outdone by Walmart, Target has finally joined the GTA 6 pre-order carnage. You can head over there right now to grab the Standard Edition on PS5 and Xbox Series X for $79.

There's some more movement

I've finally spotted another retailer putting a pre-order live! You can now get GTA 6 on Xbox at Walmart for $79, although this is just the Standard Edition. No signs yet on the Ultimate Edition or versions for PS5 – for that you'll need to head over to Amazon or direct to the platform storefronts.

GTA 6 Amazon US pre-orders are now live

I spoke far too soon there! Amazon US now has physical editions for GTA 6 available. I'm just checking over the listings, but it looks like we're seeing some movement.

It is 12:45am ET and there are still no signs of boxed copies of GTA 6 at any US retailer. There's a chance the likes of Amazon and Best Buy are holding out until 12am PT, so I'll keep an eye out.

In the meantime, you can pre-order Grand Theft Auto 6 on the official PS5 and Xbox storefronts. Both platform holders have the Standard and Ultimate Editions available for purchase, although it's just the digital versions.

Pre-order GTA 6 on Xbox now!

You can now pre-order GTA 6 on Xbox Series X, directly from the Microsoft storefront. Xbox has both the Standard ($79.99) and Ultimate Edition ($99.99) of the game available for pre-order.

No word yet on why retailers like Amazon and Best Buy have been so slow off the mark, but I'll be keeping an eye out for stock going live elsewhere.

Pre-Order GTA 6 on PS5 now!

PlayStation looks like the first retailer to go live with GTA 6 pre-orders in the US. Once you're signed in, you should be able to purchase both the Standard ($79.99) and Ultimate Edition ($99.99). Just scroll down the page and you'll be able to grab whichever edition you prefer.

US Pre-Orders Starting Soon

GTA 6 Ultimate Edition screenshot

We've just passed midnight ET, which means a bulk of GTA 6 pre-orders should be imminent. If you're sticking with a case copy, despite the digital code, you'll want to either head to a retailer with super speedy shipping (Amazon) or one that will let you collect on the day (Best Buy). These are my two go-tos right now, but Walmart, GameStop, and Target could be out the gate a little faster on the listings front.

That looks like it for now, just Currys and Argos to go

A wide shot of Vice City in GTA 6

GTA 6 pre-orders are well and truly in session now, but it looks like new listings have slowed considerably.

Still, we'll be right back here again in just a few hours when things get cracking in the US as well. Stay tuned for the latest updates throughout - and happy GTA day!

Amazon's in town!

Amazon has just dropped its GTA 6 pre-orders, with both PS5 and Xbox Series X versions now live on the site. This one's even got the delivery date right, seeing as that download code is required from November 12 for pre-loading. Not a lot of retailers have made that distinction clear on their sites yet, but Amazon's clear about it - you'll get this one a week ahead of the November 19 release date. That means it's my go-to.

PS5 | £69.99 at Amazon

Xbox | £69.99 at Amazon

And Smyths Toys is up next

Smyths Toys has its own GTA 6 pre-orders live and ready to go, but it's not listing a delivery date on these. It's clocking that the download code can be used from November 12, but also stating that it's expected in stock on November 19. That could easily be some day one miscommunications, but it's worth keeping an eye on.

PS5 | £69.99 at Smyths Toys

Xbox | £69.99 at Smyths Toys

Very seems to have fixed itself

I'm now able to click through onto both PS5 and Xbox Series X GTA 6 pre-orders from Very's search page, and with click and collect available (and "delivery on Thursday 19th November) it's my go-to retailer while Amazon is still waiting to drop.

PS5 | £69.99 at Very

Xbox | £69.99 at Very

The big three are looking a little slow

Amazon, Currys, and Argos are some of the biggest retailers in my pool at the moment, but none of them have dropped their GTA 6 pre-orders just yet. Remember though, Amazon likes to hide its listing pages on high profile releases for some reason, and Currys is generally one of the slower stores. Argos, though, I would have thought would be quicker off the mark.

The Game Collection has the Xbox version buried

The Game Collection is only showing PS5 GTA 6 pre-orders on its search page, but clicking through reveals both copies are sharing a listing page today. There's a 5p discount (woo), but this is one for those actively storing up points with the retailer - there's no word on delivery timings yet.

The Game Collection | In stock now

ShopTo is also in business

ShopTo also has Xbox and PS5 versions of the GTA 6 Standard Edition on the shelves as we roll into June 25. The retailer is known for offering smaller discounts on these high profile releases, but seeing as we're only at 15p off, and that delivery timing isn't going to rival others, this is one to keep an eye on for now.

Xbox | £69.99 £69.85 at ShopTo

PS5 | £69.99 £69.85 at ShopTo

Very's up late as well

Very is the first retailer I've spotted with physical GTA 6 pre-orders on the shelves - with Standard Editions available for the same £69.99 price tag as we're seeing from the digital storefronts.

Well, they're listed on the site - but they don't seem to take you anywhere just yet - I'll keep an eye.

Very | In stock now

Aha you have to sign in on PS Store

I was getting worried for a second there, but then I signed in with my PSN account, and lo and behold we have PS5 GTA 6 pre-orders. Strangely, I'm only seeing the £89.99 Ultimate Edition so far.

GTA 6 prices are looking... pretty normal in the UK

There's not too much of a jump from regular PS5 and Xbox releases from the GTA 6 prices I'm seeing on the UK's early pre-orders right now. £69.99 for the Standard Edition is inline with the majority of Triple-A blockbusters, while £89.99 feels par for the course on an upgraded copy.

There goes Microsoft!

White Xbox logo on a green background

Microsoft has GTA 6 pre-orders live and ready to go for Xbox fans, and it looks like we're a little cheaper in the UK.

The Standard Edition is listed for £69.99 while the Ultimate Edition is coming in at £89.99.

Stock open at Microsoft

Nothing yet from PlayStation or Microsoft

I've been clicking, refreshing, closing, and trying again and I can't see any hint that GTA 6 pre-orders have dropped at either PlayStation or Microsoft's digital storefronts. I'm still getting a wishlist at the moment, but I'll keep you updated.

5 minutes until GTA 6 pre-orders land in the UK

Get ready heatwave stock hunters, it's time to get GTA 6 to the cart. I'm expecting PlayStation and Xbox to be the first to offer these pre-orders on the stroke of midnight, but physical boxes could start dropping onto more traditional retailers shelves as well. It's time to pick your poison (or wait, get fed up with Currys, and leave it until tomorrow - only time will tell).

Let's hope pre-orders actually arrive this time eh?

I know I know, tonight's GTA 6 pre-order drop has been officially confirmed by Rockstar - that's the key difference between this swell of activity and that time Best Buy 'leaked' pre-order dates that never came to fruition a few weeks ago. Wasn't that fun.

PlayStation and Xbox's direct download links could well pop up before retailers launch their physical boxed copies. It's a much easier manoeuvre for midnight, after all. I'd recommend keeping those links close as we inch towards that UK start time and make sure you've got them handy if you're shopping the US as well.

PlayStation Store | Check stock

Xbox | Check stock

UK retailers staying quiet so far

I've had a quick sweep through the UK side of things ahead of that midnight start time and it's pretty quiet out there. No new listing pages launching means one of two thing; either stores are waiting for daylight hours or this is going to be a messy midnight drop. I'll keep you posted either way.

Just an hour to go before the UK takes up battlestations

GTA 6 pre-orders are now just an hour away for one region; the UK.

Here's hoping we'll see stores dropping some early units right on cue - but even US stock hunters should be checking in on this action. It could give us an indication of how many retailers will be going live at midnight, and whether we need to wait for daylight hours for anyone.

I'm expecting a good bulk of stores to drop their listings imminently, though.

Should you buy a PS5 for GTA 6?

If you're still on previous generation consoles, you'll need either an Xbox Series X or PS5 to play GTA 6. But please don't buy one brand new.

Both console have seen significant price increases in 2026 so far, and Sony's device now costs $600 at its cheapest. I'd instead recommend keeping an eye on PS Direct and Best Buy for refurbished models.

The Digital Edition (the cheapest way to buy a PS5 for GTA 6, seeing as this is a digital-only game) is $499 when bought certified refurbished from Sony itself. That's $100 less than a brand new device and still comes with everything you need to get playing.

If you don't mind moving slightly away from the peace of mind offered by a Sony refurb, you can pick up the full disc-version for the same $499 rate at Best Buy. That's $150 less than full price.

Certified Refurbished PS5 Slim Digital Edition | $499 at PS Direct

A slightly funny Twitter mishap from Sony

Twitter users noticed Sony quickly taking down its "plays better on PS5" posts a little while ago, and now the brand has replaced them with new ones. There's just one difference.

While the originals featured a full disc edition console, the new marketing has swapped that device out for a digital model. It's fitting, what with the uproar today about GTA 6 physical copies shipping with a download code only.

Still no listing pages live

We're still a few hours away from GTA 6 pre-orders officially landing, but retailers still aren't making mention of it on their sites. I'm checking back regularly, and the game is yet to go public at Best Buy, Walmart, GameStop or Target - even with a 'coming soon' badge attached.

Amazon is the one I'm more worried about, though. It does this thing where, for some unknown reason, it will launch strangely hidden listing pages for new products right when you need a reliable link to keep checking. It's tough to find these when they drop, which is why I'm clicking all over the shop right now.

When will GTA 6 come to PC?

We still have no clue on when GTA 6 will hit PC systems. Tonight's pre-orders are sticking close to consoles, only serving PS5 and Xbox players. History could give us an answer, though.

As user u/Jaasim99 points out on Reddit, it's taken roughly seven months to just over a year for previous GTA and Red Dead releases to migrate from console to PC, putting the Microsoft release somewhere between June and December 2027.

Who can ship the fastest?

A postal truck from GTA, parked on a street in a screenshot

We're expecting GTA 6 pre-orders to land across pretty much every mainstream retailer you'd imagine them to, but who should you pick if you're going for a case-copy? Amazon typically offers the speediest shipping, with past pre-orders holding onto their 'release day shipping' labels for some time. It's easy to see why, with the biggest warehouses and the largest delivery infrastructure, Amazon is Primed to get your copy to you fastest.

However, that can slip - especially when demand is high. If you're unsure whether Amazon can get you your pre-order in time I'd recommend checking out Best Buy's in-store collection options.

This is one of the few retailers offering curbside pickup on a number of items, but it will remain to be seen if GTA 6 is part of that package.

Will GTA 6 ever come to Game Pass?

It would be seriously optimistic to expect GTA 6 to launch on Game Pass, but there is precedent for it to join the service... eventually.

GTA V existed for four years before Game Pass was even a thing, and still took its time hitting the service. Even then it's been off and on again for a good few years now, most recently leaving back in April. If GTA 6 does join the members club it won't be for a long time yet.

No GTA 6 Collector's Edition

There is just one thing missing from today's GTA 6 pre-order announcements, and that's a fancy Collector's Edition. You'd think with a fanbase like this Rockstar would be keen to throw a few statues and maps in a box and call it $200, but apparently not. At least for now...

There could well be a drop of Collector's Edition pre-orders later in the year, but it's not a particularly well-trodden path.

Obviously Sony wants you to play GTA 6 on the PS5 Pro

Top section of a PS5 Pro console in front of a houseplant

Sony has launched a big old 'buy a PS5 Pro' campaign as GTA 6 pre-orders take center stage. The brand claims the new title "plays best" on its luxury console. With its boosted power, they're probably right - the PS5 Pro will likely be the premier destination for GTA 6. Anyone got a cool $900 they can lend me though? I think I'll stick to my OG console.

We're less than four hours away from GTA 6 pre-orders in the UK

GTA 6 pre-orders will hit the UK in less than four hours now. If you're buying for PS5, be sure to clock that discount on a £70 PS Store gift card at ShopTo, and if you're going physical it's worth keeping a close eye for new listing pages at Amazon over the next few hours.

Of course, it would also be helpful if we knew how much it was going to cost...

A nod to Arthur

GTA 6 Ultimate Edition pre-orders come with customizable Hawk & Little 'Morgan' revolvers in a satisfying little nod to Arthur himself. It may be some time before RDR returns to our screens, but at least the legend himself is taking part in Rockstar's latest release.

The most controversial GTA 6 Ultimate Edition inclusion

Rideout Customs mod shop screenshot showing someone working underneath a yellow car from GTA 6

A couple of Mod Shops are seemingly being held behind a paywall, with only the Ultimate Edition of the game offering the One-Eyed Willies and Rideout Customs locations. Many are taking this to mean all vehicle customization is being locked behind the Ultimate Edition, but it's not quite as clear as that.

Rockstar's guide to each edition states that these mod shops are "only open for business with the Ultimate Edition" but it's more likely we're looking at just these specific shops being restricted to the $99.99 copy.

Another physical retailer dropping GTA 6 pre-orders

Loot Box Gaming has also tweeted to say it won't be stocking GTA 6 pre-orders on its physical-only basis. This store has gone a little harder, stating that "we will not be supporting the release of GTA 6... if a product can't honor the people who pay their hard earned money to purchase it, then we have no business trying to sell it."

There's a catch on the GTA+ front

If you do pre-order via PlayStation or Xbox, you'll automatically receive that free month of GTA+. Just remember to cancel it. This is an auto-renewing membership that will start charging you once it's up - that's going to catch a few players out, and it's a bit sneaky all in.

ShopTo currently has discounted PS Store gift cards, which means you can already save £10 on your copy. £70 cards are going for £60.85 right now, so you'll likely still need to put in some extra cash if we're expecting UK prices to match those of the US. Still, any cash off the biggest release of the generation is going to go down well.

Digital pre-orders come with GTA+

Microsoft and Sony are throwing in a free month of GTA+ with their GTA 6 pre-orders this week. It's a lesser known subscription, but one that's not automatically rolled in with GTA Online. Essentially it gets you a bunch of online cash, Shark Card bonuses, and multipliers for online play.

You don't even need to be a GTA Online player to take full advantage of this bonus, though. Retro fans will spot another benefit almost immediately.

GTA+ also includes access to a bunch of older titles for free, currently running a selection that includes Vice City and Chinatown Wars in the rotating roster. Other Rockstar games are also getting in on the action with OG Red Dead and Bully also featured in the service.

Will GTA 6 outsell GTA 5?

I've gone all nostalgic, thinking about the last time we were on the eve of a new GTA. It turns out Grand Theft Auto V hit 11.21 million sales (or $800 million) in its first day of sale, though nobody in 2013 thought to link to sources. Still, GTA 6 is expected to smash through that figure, with private investment bank Piper Sandler estimating that GTA 6 could launch with 45 million day one sales - that's billions in revenue.

Worried about changing your mind later?

Opting for the Standard Edition now doesn't mean you can't change your mind later. If the FOMO starts to creep in, it looks like Rockstar is offering an Ultimate Edition upgrade - at least that's what PlayStation's New Zealand store is saying.

Armed with my trusty VPN I've headed over to check it out, and there is, indeed, an Add-On listed that looks to upgrade your GTA 6 pre-order to the Ultimate Edition.

Independent video game retailer won't be carrying GTA 6 pre-orders based on digital policy

VGP (Video Games Plus) has released a statement on Twitter explaining its decision to not stock GTA 6 pre-orders based on the game's use of an in-box download code.

The store stated that "for nearly 40 years, VGP has been committed to supporting physical media and preserving the value of physical game ownership," citing company policy for not stocking download-code cases.

It's garnering support from the retailer's followers, with many hoping for a physical release further down the line and urging other retailers to follow suit, though it seems unlikely larger stores will be sitting inline.

GTA 6 pre-load begins on November 12, a week before release

Hey, maybe it'll take the full week to download.

All GTA 6 pre-orders will technically be downloads, but if you order via your console's storefront you'll be able to pre-load beginning November 12. That means no waiting for that loading bar as soon as the game goes live, and no holding out for delivery.

It's a tempting prospect and one that makes total sense for digital players, but to have that shiny new GTA 6 case finally on the shelf? That might be too much for me to turn down.

Remember: pre-orders are digital codes in box

That's right, there's no such things as a GTA 6 disk. Which is strange... considering there was such a kerfuffle about Best Buy's "physical" pre-orders a few weeks ago. As it stands, though, this is a digital release with a fancy casing. Is it the best news in the world? No. Unfortunately for us physical game collectors there's nothing to slot into your console here but hey, we do get some colorful plastic...

What's included in GTA 6 Standard Edition pre-orders?

You're not getting the wad of extra content found in the Ultimate Edition, but the GTA 6 Standard Edition still comes with some bonuses for those who pre-order. The Vintage Vice City Pack harkens back to the original classic, with cosmetic options styling out Lucia and Jason in full '80s garb.

The Tropical Pattern Weapon Skins and 1955 Vapid Stanier are also included for an extra neon flair.
