Newly-announced co-op extraction game Expendabots looks like Lethal Company by way of Coraline
Or, if you prefer, the 2005 animated movie "Robots" by way of Abe's Odyssey? There's a lot going on here.
Whether you hate or love AI, upcoming co-op extraction game Expendabots will give you something to root for, as the newly-revealed title from Blue Brain Games is all about a team of cute little robots being tormented by... Well, some decidedly not cute robots, as shown in a new announcement trailer as part of the Future Games Show.
In the thirty-second clip we're shown, it seems as though the main factors involved are cooperative stealth - the little clankers are sneaking around their long-fingered enemies rather than attacking them - and crafting. Not only does each of the Expendabots get to carry a 3D printer for quick on-the-go equipment creation, but if one of their allies gets smashed, they can actually pick up their heart and shove it into a bigger printer to build them a new body. Death and dismemberment is no excuse for slacking off.
It's also no excuse for talking loudly. Proximity chat between players can also be heard by enemies, so remember to whisper whenever you hear footsteps approaching. It was a fantastic feature when it was in the game adaptation of Friday The 13th, and I'm excited to see it come back here.
If all that sounds like it tickles your exhaust port, you can find out more about the game when you follow the developers at their social media channels on X, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok and Discord, or just check out their official website. It's planned for release on PC this year, currently targeting October 2026.
