True Detective director teams with Idris Elba fror Netflix movie Beasts Of No Nation

No longer a part of True Detective Cary Fukunaga is branching out to other arenas with his feature adaptation of Uzodinma Iweala‘s Beasts Of No Nation. Set in a West African country in the midst of a civil war, the film follows a young boy called Agu as he's enlisted by a group of mercenaries to become a child soldier. Idris Elba stars as the leader of the group.

By all accounts it sounds like a gripping tale, and by what's on show here it's going to be a beautifully-shot piece whether you see it on the big screen or in the comfort of your own home. Netflix struck a deal with one theater chain in the US which will screen it at 19 cinemas across the country, the same day it arrives for Netflix subscribers. Whichever viewing option suits you, there's no doubt Beasts Of No Nation deserves a watch. It's available to stream on Netflix and in limited theaters on October 16. There's currently no confirmed UK release date.
