Uncharted 4 multiplayer could get vehicles after release

Uncharted 4 multiplayer will finally capitalize on the series' pulpy, supernatural elements, and it may even let Nathan Drake and company take the wheel - just not at launch. Lead multiplayer designer Robert Cogburn said at PlayStation's Paris conference that vehicles are on the to do list once Uncharted 4 releases on March 18, 2016.

“I can tell you for ship we will not have vehicles, but it is something we’re hoping to tackle in the future,” Cogburn said in a Q&A session attended by VG27/7.

Uncharted 3 had vehicles in some of its multiplayer maps, including a runway chase between a convoy of trucks and a cargo plane, though none of them could be operated by players. I can't see Uncharted's two-fisted multiplayer working well with Battlefield-style vehicle spawns, but there are some exciting possibilities. I'd love a deathmatch map that starts collapsing halfway through, spurring players to jump on Jeeps or dirt bikes and race over to a second arena, taking potshots all the while. After all, it sounds like the Jeep is going to be a pretty big deal in single-player.

Vehicles aside, Uncharted 4 will let you call on NPC allies for support, as well as powerful artifacts like the Cintamani Stone, while you're battling online. Want to know what Leon Hurley thought? Here’s his hands-on Uncharted 4 multiplayer preview.
