The Dark Star Wars Knight

The Dark Knight meets Star Wars .

Understandably, things get just a little bit amazing.

Crash Landed

Crash Landed

The palette may be turgidly muted, but if nothing else, at least this is consistent with JJ Abrams' tendency to crash/implode the biggest thing he can find in each of his projects (see also: Cloverfield /Lost/Star Trek: Into Darkness).

Video Game Trailer Genius

Video Game Trailer Genius

It's not just clever Photoshoppers who have got in on the action.

One clever video editor has mashed up the best Star Wars video game CGI cutscenes and the brilliant Star Trek Into Darkness trailer audio (can't beat a bit of Cumberbatch) to create a Star Wars film that we would pay serious dollar to say.

Amazing.

Heroic Hamill

Heroic Hamill

Ah, a fanmade poster that doesn't automatically assume Luke will turn to the Dark Side.

Make the most of it, things are about to get a whole lot evil-er...

Bad-ass Farming

Bad-ass Farming

It's testament to the coolness of the lightsaber that simply the image of a Jedi hanging around in a field makes us excited.

Simple Style

Simple Style

If Abrams' movie vision is anywhere as simple and effective as this poster, we'll be happy.

Little Miss Starshine

Little Miss Starshine

Artist Josh Lange's Little Miss Sunshine / Star Wars poster mash-up was inspired by the news that LMS screenwriter Michael Arndt had been attached to reinvent the Jedi universe.

If we're comparing like-for-like, that means we should expect Han Solo to have a cheerful drug addiction, R2-D2 to perform a worryingly sexy strip tease, and Luke Skywalker to have turned into a depressed homosexual.

We would totally watch that.

Star Wars: Into Darkness

Star Wars: Into Darkness

Josh Lange returned with another inspired poster that riffs off JJ Abrams' involvement. Upon hearing the casting news, Lange used the Star Trek: Into Darkness poster as the base for a moody, planet-bound teaser.

70s Homage

70s Homage

Part Serenity , a little Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and a tasteful homage to the original Star Wars .

We'd watch TheForce.net's DarkGingerJedi 's 'New Hope' for a Wars movie.

Menacing Mark

Menacing Mark

Luke Skywalker's gone bad-ass in this lava-tastic, tagline-baiting poster from TheForce.net .

Geriatric Joy

Geriatric Joy

The most popular conceptual poster to date undoubtedly goes to artist Adam Schikling who used the painted posters for the other six movies as inspiration.

It's a thing of undeniably geriatric beauty - and you can see how he pencilled and painted it with a step-by-step guide over on his website .

Teasing Taglines

Intriguing tagline + lady girdle + 'good guy' lightsaber = the perfect teaser poster.

Abrams Crossover

Abrams Crossover

It was only a matter of time.

With Abrams in charge of Stars both Wars and Trek, one ingeious video editor has mashed up scenes from the original Star Wars movies and the score and styling from Into Darkness to create the ultimate trailer crossover.
