Holy crap, your Metal Gear Solid 5 Mother Base is going to be huge

When you stand at one corner of your secret military base and see the other side of it fading into the horizon, you know you've got a pretty good setup going. Hideo Kojima tweeted a new picture of Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain's Mother Base construction, and the sense of scale makes my stomach do a little flip every time I look at it.

The facilities in the foreground look massive enough, then you realize that the whole thing seems to be connected to all that business going on in the background. "This is our new home," Kojima quotes in the description, and apparently our new home has at least 10 separate freight cranes.

Kojima showed the image in a series of tweets about his plans for MGS5's Gamescom demo next week, including a segment on the continued growth of Mother Base and how it will affect your game. So at least we won't have to wait too long to figure out what on Earth we're going to do with all that headquarters. Don't forget to check out this official map of MGS5's Afghanistan region until then.

I got a BA in journalism from Central Michigan University - though the best education I received there was from CM Life, its student-run newspaper. Long before that, I started pursuing my degree in video games by bugging my older brother to let me play Zelda on the Super Nintendo. I've previously been a news intern for GameSpot, a news writer for CVG, and now I'm a staff writer here at GamesRadar.
