McG's action romcom This Means War , has landed a trailer, and it's… well, take a look for yourself.
Typically, a new McG project isn't something we'd be salivating over, but the cast (Tom Hardy, Reese Witherspoon, Chris Pine) had our interest snared.
And while it's hard to judge from a two-minute promo, it's looking like a cacophony of clichés from the action and romcom handbooks, and it makes True Lies and Mr. & Mrs. Smith look like the epitome of cinéma vérité realism.
Hardy and Pine are two of "the CIA's best", and they also happen to be bestest buds.
Their friendship is shaken when they discover they're dating the same girl (Witherspoon, who seems to be essaying one of the least likeable romcom leads for some time), and they use all of the CIA resources at their disposal to ruin the other man's chances.
It's only a short teaser, but it's not bursting with promise. That said, maybe the charm of the stars and some decent set pieces will make for entertaining Saturday night fare.
