A new, full-length trailer has appeared online for The Martian, in which Matt Damon’s luckless astronaut finds himself marooned on Mars, after a freak storm forces his crew to make a hasty departure… without realising they’re a member short.
Clocking in at over three minutes in length, the new trailer goes into a pretty solid level of detail plot-wise, while also stressing just how epic a spectacle Ridley Scott has managed to put together. It certainly looks like it’s going to be a lot of fun, with our team of astronauts seeming to hail from the “fly by the seat of our pants” school of space exploration.

From some great one liners (“I am the greatest botanist on this planet”) to genuinely nail-biting moments of tension, Drew Goddard looks to have done a bang-up job with the script, while Scott’s mastery of the sci-fi genre comes shining through loud and clear. Co-starring Jeff Daniels, Kristen Wiig and Chiwetel Ejiofor, The Martian will open in the UK on September 30 2015 and the US three days later. We can hardly wait.
