360 - Street Fighter IV - Japanese Street Fighter IV web site goes live Nick Chester writes:

"The official Japanese web site for Capcom's Street Fighter IV has gone live, and does the music playing in its background make you want to shake your booty or what?"

"The site contains screens which we've already seen, as well as character bios for characters we already know about -- Ryu, Ken, and the recently revealed Crimson Viper. According to translations found on the appropriately named fan-blog, The Street Fighter Blog, the Japanese bio text reveals juicy info on the three characters."

Jan 10, 2007 We're all used to seeing games make the jump from small screen to silver screen. But getting sprinkled with a little Hollywood magic isn't the only way that our favourite game characters can be packaged to appeal to a broader audience. Every so often virtual heroes of gaming dodge the bright lights of a blockbuster movie (or, indeed, a veritable cinematic craptacular) and find themselves transformed into a cartoonified persona. But which of gaming's iconic faces have been treated ... » Read More

360 - Street Fighter IV - Street Fighter 4 Confirmed For Arcades January 9, 2008 - Street Fighter mania first started in the arcades, and it looks like it will make its revival there too. The latest issue of Famitsu confirms that Street Fighter IV will be released to arcades in Japan some time this year.

While SFIV was announced a few months back, there has been speculation on what platforms Capcom was targeting for the game. Due to the game's impressive 3D visuals, a PS3 or Xbox 360 release seemed likely, but Capcom wouldn't issue official word. The confirmation in Famitsu does nothing to address the issue of a home version, but at least we can now form a visual image of what a SFIV play session will be like.

360 - Street Fighter IV - Street Fighter IV: New Pics and Info Analysis From Quicksave:

Earlier today another collection of screenshots (courteousy of eNe3) were made available to the public. These screenshots are the exact same ones which were in the EGM article. After initial shock and bewilderment caused by the unorthodox depictions of Ryu and Ken, they noticed an unmentioned gameplay feature and conflicting reports concerning another.

Dec 11, 2007 "Now you'll finally see guys wincing in pain and cheeks being deformed by fists in real-time," says Street Fighter IV producer Yoshinori Ono of Capcom's beat-'em-up sequel. Boy, we like the sound of that! Ono recently gave an interview to US magazine Electronic Gaming Monthly in which he explained Street Fighter IVs aggressive new style. "I hope that we can include some sort of visible reactions from the characters based on how much damage they receive when they are hit. "We'd ... » Read More

360 - Street Fighter IV - Capcom quiet on Zak & Wiki 2 and SF4 date rumour Capcom has kept quiet on Internet rumours it has pencilled in Zak & Wiki 2 for the Wii and hotly anticipated beat-em-up Street Fighter 4 on Xbox 360 and PS3 for Q4 2008/Q1 2009.

The rumour came from a poster on popular game forum NeoGaf, who claimed over the weekend to have received a European retailer list detailing some new Capcom games.

However, in a post on Capcom's website, Seth Killian, Capcom Entertainment Inc. Senior Manager, Community, poured scorn on the rumour, saying: "Why would a retailer, source of approximately all leaked info in the gaming universe, just be randomly given a list of titles as far out as Q1 2009?

360 - Street Fighter IV - Street Fighter IV First Peeks and Leaks: The Full Scoop; Kotaku: Shame On You 1UP Editor, James Mielke, isn't too happy about the recent Street Fighter 4 info leakage. Here is what he has to say on the matter.

"I'm guessing by now that you've seen the first trickling of our Street Fighter IV coverage, as evidenced by our hub page of upcoming features, and the first exclusive screenshot, which you can see here if you're too besmitten to actually click on the feature page. It's such a relief to finally be able to unveil this stuff to the world, despite the slightly advanced warning that Capcom's teaser trailer gave everyone. I mean, it just kills me to try and keep this stuff under our hats. Seriously, do you have any idea how much effort it takes to make Shane Bettenhausen STFU? Still, this is the result not only of months of planning (we're talking six months or so), but years of relationship building, as well as our own web and print coordination".

360 - Street Fighter IV - Ziff Sets Us Straight On Stolen Street Fighter IV Pics Earlier today, Kotaku posted about the plight of "tiny Brazilian blog" Blogeek, who, as you may remember, posted a pair of screen shots of Street Fighter IV yesterday. Amazingly, the site scooped 1UP to its own exclusive, claiming it had received the screens and details on the Capcom fighter from an "anonymous source." The site's owner, Douglas Pereira, wrote Kotaku this morning, crying out for help. "Ziff Davis is going after me. They're chasing me," he lamented. It was very heart-wrenching.

Sounds like EGM and 1UP were quite justified in their legal "picking on" of Pereira and Blogeek. He's an EGM Brazil freelancer and has now admitted to swiping the pics from Ziff-Davis' own media servers. EGM editor-in-chief Dan Hsu, who says ZD has the IP logs of the transgression to back it up, explains.

360 - Street Fighter IV - 1UP One-upped: Threatens Brazilian Blog Over Street Fighter IV Pics Late yesterday, Kotaku discovered that a Brazilian blog known as Blogeek seemed to have gotten their hands on some exclusive screenshots and information for Capcom's upcoming Street Fighter IV, a game which Ziff-Davis/1UP have put a lot of effort into promoting.

Now, however, visitors to the site will not find screenshots nor information, but a foreboding message signifying the hammer being brought down.

It's understandable that Ziff-Davis would be protective over such an exclusive, but is picking on a little guy who happened to score some luck on his own the best solution?

360 - Street Fighter IV - Rumor: New info and pictures from Street Fighter IV leaked Brazilian gaming blog Blogeek has apparently gotten big news on the upcoming Street Fighter IV game and they are more than happy to share it with the Internets:

"Street Fighter IV runs at 60 frames per second.

Street Fighter IV will have online play.

The game takes place after Super Street Fighter II Turbo and before SFIII. The good news is that the character roster will be made of many old-school brawlers and some entirely new ones. There are two new girls on the list. We will probably not see any SFIII characters."

Dec 5, 2007 BLOG - A Capcom rep has told Next Generation that this Thursday, we just might finally find out what Street Fighter IV is going to look like... Chatting with a Capcom rep Tuesday, we asked how Street Fighter IV is coming along ("great," of course) and what exactly it's going to look like. 360 - Street Fighter IV - Capcom Japan to Develop Street Fighter IV Since the announcement of Street Fighter IV there has been speculation as to who would be developing the game. Well Earlier today Sven the Sr. Director of Strategy posted on the official Capcom forums that Capcom USA will be outsourcing development to Capcom Japan. An excerpt from the post as follows:

"While CUSA owns the rights to Street Fighter, we have contracted Capcom Japan to handle its development (we felt they would, by far, do the best job with the title).

The game is further along in development than probably most of you think, but as we've stated, it's still quite a ways off. Again, the announcement was just to get it on everyone's radar, nothing more."

At this time there is no word on the characters returning, character count, platforms, features, 2D or 3D or 2.5D, whether the trailer is representative of gameplay/character design/visual targets, arcade or not, online features, downloadable strategy, where it fits in the canon, etc. More details to follow before the end of the year.

Oct 18, 2007 Irresponsible speculation and much hypothesizing have been running rampant in our office since the Street Fighter IV trailer was unleashed across the Internet last night. The most striking thing about this video is its art style, which might foreshadow a huge change in how the actual game looks. Since the trailer doesn't show any gameplay, it's too soon to come to any conclusions, but this wouldn't be the first time that the series has received a visual makeover.
