New details for Ubisoft's new Prince of Persia game have emerged online, including screens of a new art direction influenced by cel-shading and manga.

According to a translation of a preview from French magazine Joypad, the story is more like a fable than the original titles, with the Prince fighting to heal a world corrupted by an evil god who the Prince accidentally released from imprisonment.

The time rewind mechanics have been removed, but the Prince can slide along walls using a glove. Environments will be as much a vertical game as it's horizontal. Those who suffer vertigo should not play.

Apparently, the initial design was more influenced by the 'open world' of Assassin's Creed, but the developers found players got lost quickly. The game will now be more structured, but still not as linear as the previous games.

We think it sounds and looks like it's taken a healthy dose of inspiration from Legend of Zelda, which is all good by us. No word on a release date, yet.
