VG24/7 Writes: "The new Prince of Persia game isn't called Heir Apparent, as previously reported from a Game Informer cover."
Eurogamer writes:
Joystiq writes: In much the same way that one might admire the Lillberg sofa-bed in an IKEA before throwing a mid-riot brick through the window, Ubisoft says it was impressed with the Wii's capabilities while bringing Prince of Persia: Rival Swords (by its own admission a "quick and dirty port") to the console.
This time around, players won't start off as a prince, but instead as a drifter and adventurer, lost in the desert. "We're starting afresh, in the same universe, and we wanted to bring something new while keeping what worked before," creative director Jean-Christphe Chuyot explains, adding "He'll be confronted by a lot of fantasy settings."
It was only a matter of time. Scans from the latest issue of French gaming mag Joypad have been posted right here (courtesy of pro-gamers.fr), revealing snapshots from Ubi's brand-new Prince of Persia game.
How can a mysteriously cryptic countdown site get even more cryptic? Well, it can eventually lead to a picture of Daniel Day-Lewis. Or, it can be discovered before the cryptic marketing campaign even begins. What an enigma! That's exactly the case with whatever "Prince of Persia Prodigy" is. First, the phrase was trademarked by series creator Jordan Mechner, now the domain (www.princeofpersiaprodigy.com) has been registered by Ubisoft.
Videogamer reports that video game designer Jordan Mechner, the creator and owner of the Ubisoft published Prince of Persia game franchise, has filed to protect the trademark Prince of Persia Prodigy in relation to "game software and electronic game programs; electronic game software for mobile phones, personal digital assistants, and handheld computers".
This most probably cellphone-recorded video shows a model supposedly from the upcoming Prince of Persia 4: Ghost of the Past, which was repeatedly rumoured (and unofficially revealed by UbiSoft themselves through an artwork). It's exactly the similiarity to this artwork that may prove this video genuine: notice the arm/glove that Prince has, one that might be distantly inspired by Dark Sector and/or possibly Bionic Commando. And given how the Jerry Bruckheimer's movie is nearing, this may as well really be from the upcoming Prince of Persia videogame..
From Joystiq:
Industry insider "surfer girl" has come to reach on twenty five more things on new game titles being developed as we speak. Contains information on: Gears of War trilogy, the next Hitman game, Far Cry on PS3, Prince of Persia 4, Resistance: Fall of Man 2, and more.
Ubisoft announced it will be releasing a remake of the 1989 classic Prince of Persia game on Xbox Live Arcade early summer. Lauded as the game that started the platforming genre features the same intricate level design, exciting swordplay, puzzle solving, and storyline from the original.
Joystiq got wind via The German Unterhaltungssoftware Selbstkontrolle (USK) ratings board that a game called Prince of Persia Classic was recently reviewed for public consumption, the game received a +12 years of age rating. The Germans were being kind giving it that rating considering the difficulty level of the original game; they're sparing young gamers a lot of grief.
