What makes a good video game? Strong visuals are important. Good controls are essential. A well-crafted concept helps too. These days, most games can boast at least two-thirds of that criteria.

So, then what makes a game great? Feeling. Emotion. Surprise. Interaction. Even addiction. It's a magical feeling when a game offers all these elements.

Here are the titles L.A. Times deemed the best experiences of 2007. Admittedly, they didn't play everything (because that would probably be impossible), but of the titles that did cross their paths, these are the ones that resonated most. Their favorites in order:

Microsoft Chosen by ESA for This Years Charity Bundle (News)

Each year the ESA partners with one gaming platform to create a three game bundle which is specially packaged with information about the ESA and it's charities. The bundle is then sold at retail with proceeds going to the charities chosen.

This year, the ESA has chosen Microsoft as a partner with the 3 game bundle including Fuzion Frenzy 2, Open Season, and Cars.

The fictional future's always looked pretty dire, what with all the killer robots, invading aliens and - of course - World War III. But we'd gladly accept any of those dystopian fates over the one presented in party game sequel Fuzion Frenzy 2. At least they sound halfway interesting. This Xbox 360 exclusive, on the other hand, is a repetitive bore. Dont get us wrong. Every console needs a good party game. No matter how many gripping single player campaigns or furious deathmatch experiences a system offers, there will always be space for something that regular folks - regardless of their skills - can gather around and play immediately. Hudson Soft today announced that Fuzion Frenzy 2 won't be released untill early 2007, so they have a little more time left to finish the game.

The Land of the Rising Yen were the only ones to get a demo today (well, Japan and anyone who has a Japanese account) and things are looking up for the rest of the week, as well. According to this Japanese Xbox.com list, they've got a Sonic demo tomorrow and a Fuzion Frenzy 2 demo on Friday.

Microsoft announce TGS lineup (News)

Microsoft have released a list of games that will be featuring at this year's TGS. There are not many surprises, apart from the omission of the game everyone wants to see: Halo 3.

There are also a couple of games I have not heard of, such as Super Robot Taisen XO, so it will be interesting to see exactly what that turns out to be. Of course, it could be a Japanese title, since the event is in Japan, and might be an attempt to try and sell more 360s to the unwanting Japanese public. The games are as follows:

Microsoft has announced that developer Hudson will be making the sequel to the Xbox launch title Fuzion Frenzy. The game, which is a collection of mini games a la Mario Party, could be a hit especially now with Xbox Live, which was not available when the original came out, being so prolific.
