Midway Games today announced the European release of Blitz: The League, one of the company's best-selling North American sports titles, for the Xbox 360.

Taking players behind the glitz and glamour of professional American football through a revolutionary campaign mode, Blitz: The League explores the on-field violence, off-field fallout and front-office politics feeding the headlines in America's media spotlight. Unlicensed and uncensored, the new version of Blitz: The League is scheduled for release across Europe on 23rd February 2007 on Xbox 360 with a R.R.P. in the UK of £29.99..

Blitz banned in Australia (News)

It's only a few weeks into the New Year and Australia's restrictive game classification system has already taken its first scalp, with Xbox 360 sports title Blitz: The League being refused classification down under.

Australia's Office of Film and Literature Classification (OFLC) has refused classification for Midway's American football title, effectively banning it for sale down under. Blitz: The League was set for release in Australia on February 22. The official ruling from the OFLC states that the game was refused classification because of in-game drug use.

We spent countless hours and quarters tearing up the fields with NFL teams and players in bigger-than-life footballmageddon-style rampages, some of which bore a small resemblance to an actual gridiron game. Midway Games today announced that 4¿time Super Bowl champion, Bill Romanowski, will join Hall of Famer, Lawrence Taylor, as co¿cover athlete of Blitz: The League for the Xbox 360 and of Blitz: The League Overtime for the PSP.
