What are you most thankful for about gaming?

You just had a super long day, man… and it was a bad day, too. You woke up and your goldfish was dead. You forgot to study for a test and failed it miserably. And to top it all off your car had a flat tire. You pop in your favorite game and instantly all your worries go away--it's time to escape to a land where you're the boss and everything is just so much damn fun. With Thanksgiving around the corner we wanted to ask…

What are you most thankful for about gaming?

I am thankful for games allowing me to experience stories on a whole new level. I can sit back and be told an incredible story and then, get this… I get to say where the story goes next! The Walking Dead made me, Greg Henninger, a part of the story, making me feel like an important part of the whole project.

Let us know in the comments what you are most thankful for in gaming!

Just that it exists. It drives me, entertains me, makes me question, helped me choose my major, gave me a passion, landed many friends in my lap... The lost goes on. And it gave me you, GamesRadar.ヾ(@⌒ー⌒@)ノ

Because of gaming, I've been to Helgast and Hyrule. I've been a space marine, a god of war, a plumber and Batman. Gaming keeps me young.

I'm thankful for the 3DS. It's doing a great job of shutting up the endless pundits screaming about how "mobile gaming is the future!" Sorry, but it's not. The audience for mobile gaming is similar to the original Wii's audience, which means that although it's there now, it won't be forever. There will always be a market for dedicated portable gaming machines. I'm also thankful for Nintendo. I probably wouldn't love video games as much as I do if it wasn't for them.

I'm thankful for Atlus, both the games they develop and the ones they decide to publish in the West. Seriously, set SMT and the Persona games aside, and realize that Dark Souls most likely never would have happened here without Atlus and their risky decision to publish what they expected to be a very niche game in Demon's Souls in the West. I was also very thankful when my shiny new PS4 booted up, especially after the scare I had that turned out to just be a case of an HDMI cable not being plugged all the way in.

Ditto, THANK YOU ATLUS (don't screw things up Sega!)

I am thankful for the Virtual Console. Though it may lack frequent additions, the ability to escape into the year 20XX no matter where I am, that is beauteous.

I am thankful for Mario Kart, The N64 version was the first console game I ever owned and I have cherished the series ever since. I am also thankful for multiplayer gaming in general because the amount of successful evenings i've had with friends playing games like Rock Band, Little Big Planet and Mario Kart. They are the sort of memories that I'll cherish forever.

Rock Band ate up way too many hours of my life. I lived in a house of 4 guys in college, so we had just enough for a full band. We each played only one instrument (I was lead guitar since I had been playing those types of games for years), and we would play at least an hour almost every night. I probably spent well over $200 on additional songs on RB2.

I'm thankful for Smash Bros., as it opened me up to so many more video game series than I could have imagined. Before that, all I played was Pokemon (though I still play that plenty).

I'm thankful for gaming giving people like the RadioRadar (and the old TalkRadar) crew an excuse to make hilarious and informative podcasts on a mostly weekly basis. That, and console wars. Raging fanboys are always good for a chuckle.

    Also 4 Persona games...

I guess I'm grateful for the fact that I can expect great games for the current generation to continue to be released for the next few years.

    Great voice acting.

I'm thankful for gaming as it brought Pokemon into my life. Pokemon played a large part in shaping who I am today, as Pokemon is one of the very few things that's been with me my entire life. It's gotten me through tough times and given me many precious memories. Don't know where I'll be without it.
  • J-Fid - November 26, 2013 7:51 p.m.

    Ditto that.
  • Frieza - November 26, 2013 8:16 p.m.

    Haha, I get it.
  • J-Fid - November 26, 2013 9:45 p.m.

That was just my immediate response. It was only when I started typing I realized what I said. Then I was like lolz Pokepun.

I am thankful for Booth Babes... JK on a more serious note I am happy that games are becoming something more and more people can get into.
