Sleeping Dogs: Square Enix previews high-action driving in new trailer

Burnout meets Need for Speed via GTA in absurdly unsafe compendium of driving shenanigans

Whereas a Forza or Gran Turismo might feel bound to establish the distinction between “fun things to do in a videogame” and “safe things to do in reality,” United Front and Square Enix don't seem constrained by any such boundaries in their work on Sleeping Dogs. This clip makes it quite apparent that all moving vehicles displayed in-game are for absurdly unsafe, wish-fulfillment-only purposes.

Sleeping Dogs is Arkham City meets Just Cause 2 meets Max Payne meets Infernal Affairs ,” we mused when we got our first look at the title since its acquisition and rebranding by Squeenix. The first Sleeping Dogs story trailer we saw added Hard Boiled, A Better Tomorrow and The Killer to the list of influences. Now apparently the title's also rolling together Burnout, Vice City, Death Proof and The Fast & The Furious. By the time this game's released, apparently it'll just be a blend of pretty much everything cool and dangerous since about 1990. That ought to be good for a few nights' playtime, then.

Oh yeah! the driving's promising to be as over the top and cool as the on foot action, huzzah! I wish this game's articles got more attention though. this game's showing promise, and it could be one of the year's most notable underdogs. (No pun intended... maybe.)

At first, I wasn't really excited, but then I learned it had ramming. You can have all of my money!
