Sleeping Dogs release date assigned to August, pre-order incentives revealed

Square Enix has announced an August 14 street date for Sleeping Dogs in North America, followed by an August 17 arrival in UK and other PAL territories. The open world cop game – developed in association with United Front Games – will hit the pavement alongside a number of pre-order goodies, depending on where you shop.

For those seeking a little more heat on their virtual beat, GameStop's pre-order incentive includes the “Police Protection” Pack, featuring an exclusive “High Speed” mission, an HK police SWAT outfit, assault rifle, and SWAT police vehicle. Best Buy, on the hand, is offering the “George St. Pierre” Pack, containing GSP's “flying punch” move, an exclusive outfit, and increased grappling and throwing abilities.

Lastly, those who choose to pre-order online with Amazon will be treated to the “Martial Arts” Pack, which sports the “Shaolin Showdown” mission, a Shaolin warrior outfit, extra Triad XP points, and a stat-enhancing Wing Chun decoration for your in-game safe house.

For now, the Sleeping Dogs bonus content is only being offered to consoles; however, Square Enix has promised to reveal exclusive digital content for PC “at a later date”.

The walking system made it a must buy for me

I hope it's as goddamn mental as True Crime: Streets of LA. Remember how supernatural stuff was just sort of randomly an integral part of the game all of a sudden? God I loved that bat-shit game. Completely out of it's mind.7 The pre-order bonuses are barely enough to make me think about buying it new straight away though. To get me interested in pre-ordering, there needs to be something real, as in out-of-game real.Like a batarang or a Dante Alighieri or a chainsaw controller.

This is the game that was once the True Crime reboot, correct? I wonder how much has remained intact since then, as it did look quite enjoyable.

I'm hoping to hear some good things from the reveiw of this title, but I am a sucker for openworld games.

I'm liking the release date, gives me ample time to enjoy Max payne 3 and all the backlog I have left, but arrives before the heavy hitters of the year arrive. Good. As usual, couldn't care less about pre-order bonuses.
