Rock Band - new songs revealed

Nov 15, 2007

Harmonix and EA have detailed their ambitious plans for Rock Band downloadable content, which will kick into action from the week of its North American release (that's the one in seven days).

Taking pointers from the complaints surrounding Guitar Hero's pricey three-song packs, EA has opted to allow gamers to purchase individual tracks for Rock Band, as well as proving the three-packs for 440 Microsoft points (£3.74 or $5.50) on Live.

Individual songs will cost anything from 80 Microsoft points (£0.68 or $1) to 240 Microsoft points (£2.04 or $3). Not bad.

The publisher didn't mention when full albums will be available for purchase, or indeed which one's are lined up, but we're sure we'll be a bit wiser once the game rolls up for European release next year.

The opening week in North America will see track packs from Metallica, The Police, and Queens of the Stone Age and individual songs from Revival, Foreigner, T-Rex, and more.

Downloaded tracks will work in all of Rock Band's game modes - including online modes if all players have the song. Here's the full North American schedule:
