Rise of the Triad remake confirmed at QuakeCon

You may not remember much about Rise of the Triad from way back in 1994, but it's one of those classic titles that managed to stick around in the long memories of lifelong hardcore PC gamers. Largely overshadowed in its own time by classics like Doom and Wolfenstein 3D, the cult classic will be given a second chance at life as it's being remade and modernizedaccording to a panelat QuakeCon today.

The original developer, Apogee Software, will be working with Interceptor Entertainment to bring the title up to date. Interceptor was the developer behind the long-delayed Duke Nukem 3D: Reloaded.

Many of the original features that made Rise of the Triad so unique in its own day will be returning. You'll be able to choose from five different characters, along with a load of unique weaponry like the "Flamewall," "Drunk Missile," and the "Excalibat" among many others. And in true classic PC gaming form there will also be activateable cheats like God mode, dog mode, and elasto mode.
