RadarPlays - Yanya Caballista: City Skater

When the aliens attack, guns won’t stop them. Neither will computer viruses, operetta music, or the common cold. No--skaters will be our salvation. This week’s RadarPlays Freaky has Lucas, Tom, and Ryan sharpening their street and vert skating skills, all in the hopes of repelling an invasion from the extraterrestrial Gawoo race. You’ll also get your daily dose of youthful, anime-style protagonists, cel-shaded graphics, and the pains brought on by unwieldy control schemes. Unrelated--but necessary--is a word-by-word dissection of the Circle of Life song from The Lion King.

Want to hang out with GamesRadar's editors while taking a look at retro games, new releases, and totally random experiences? RadarPlays is for you. Mondays we'll be checking out blasts from the past on RadarPlays Retro, Wednesdays we change things up to whatever we feel like playing with RadarPlays Shuffle, and Friday is packed with the strangest titles you’ve never (hopefully) heard of in RadarPlays Freaky. We'll also release RadarPlays for all the new releases, so be sure to check back!

This game is like the Tony Hawk series and Jet Set Radio had a baby, and then dropped it repeatedly on its head.

I don't care whether this should have been on "Freaky" or "Shuffle", it was still flipping hysterical! ...I can't say if that pun was intended. Hold on, wait, I just noticed in the tags, this was a PS2 game? I thought it looked kinda...PS1-ish :/

This guy has the ability to float in the air for a few seconds more than the average person and he uses it for tricks on his skateboard.

While that was a slightly odd game, I do have to agree with the other guys that it was not really that freaky for a skatebroading. To be honest, there are odder things in most Tony Hawk games, but thanks for the entertaining video. How about something like Forget Me Not Annie, Baby Blues, Paranormal, or The Grey for next week.

I want to cover the scary with the weird; the word "Freaky" doesn't PERFECTLY encapsulate that, but c'mon, Freaky Fridays is too good to pass up. We'll definitely do more indie horror, but I want to keep things varied with some straight-up oddities in the mix. Glad you liked it, and I'll def check out your suggestions!

i appreciate the more unique games, as 'freaky' has always been more 'weird' than 'scary' for me. i think you've done a good job of encapsulating both interpretations thus far. that said, it IS amusing to see 20 min or so of horror games i'll never play:)
