RadarPlays - ParanoiaScape

Not every game can boast that it pioneered an entirely new genre. But ParanoiaScape, for the PS1, paved the way for what might be the most unlikely genre of all time: first-person horror pinball. Lucas, Tom, and Ryan can barely process the macabre sights they encounter during this nightmarish trip, which may or may not result in complete and utter failure. It all begs the question: What kind of psychotropic drugs was Screaming Mad George on when he came up with this stuff?

Want to hang out with GamesRadar's editors while taking a look at retro games, new releases, and totally random experiences? RadarPlays is for you. Mondays we'll be checking out blasts from the past on RadarPlays Retro, Wednesdays we change things up to whatever we feel like playing with RadarPlays Shuffle, and Friday is packed with the strangest titles you’ve never (hopefully) heard of in RadarPlays Freaky. We'll also release RadarPlays for all the new releases, so be sure to check back!

    How about Kiss's Psycho Circus?
  • GR_LucasSullivan - June 3, 2013 1:56 p.m.

Always wanted to try it! Now to find a working version...

Well, that's certainly not ZEN Pinball, lol. I can't really think of a freaky game I've played. Although saying that, do try Datura for PS3. It's marketed as a Move game but is playable with a Dualshock/Sixaxis.

I think we reviewed that awhile back, seemed trippy as all get out

I know it's confusing. I did get all the trophies for it, though. Lol.

Can you guys play Evil Dead for the PS1? :P I want t hear your funny commentary for the game
  • GR_LucasSullivan - June 2, 2013 8:01 p.m.

I'll definitely give it a look!

    Nice! :)

Can you guys play Lair? It's just I've never seen anyone play that game with success, ever, and I wanna watch you guys fail.
  • BladedFalcon - June 1, 2013 9:30 a.m.

I played Lair and finished it back when it came out. Sure, controls like shit, but it can be done. Secondly... You DO know that there's now a patch that lets you play with the analog sticks, right? even if the crew played it on RadarPlays Shuffle, there's no reason why they'd play with with the sixaxis.

I'll at least check to see if it's in our game cabinet lol, might be more Shuffle-worthy ;)
  • BladedFalcon - June 3, 2013 2:08 p.m.

Heh, true enough :P If you do, you might wanna tackle the desert level, the one after the main character realizes he has been fighting for the evil guys all along. That mission was probably the most disorienting, frustrating one out of the entire game XD
  • BladedFalcon - May 31, 2013 3:35 p.m.

Well... freaky is certainly the right word to describe this XD 11 minutes in, and neither the hosts nor me had any idea of how the hell is meant to be played...
  • phoenixwright13 - May 31, 2013 3:35 p.m.

Can you play Phoenix Drive sometime?
  • GR_LucasSullivan - May 31, 2013 5:05 p.m.

Having investigated further, I can assure you that we would all be fired IMMEDIATELY if we played that in the office lolol. But what I can say is that some RadarPlays-related nudity is inbound...

That is an interesting game. Art makes me think of CarnEvil. There should be more creepy, disturbing games. Don't have to be horror though.
  • GR_LucasSullivan - June 2, 2013 8:01 p.m.

I love CarnEvil; sadly the only time I [redacted] it, it was chugging like crazy. Any specific requests for creepy-but-not-scary?
  • Sy87 - June 3, 2013 12:04 p.m.

No, you find stuff I never heard of. Unless you can run Thrill Kill.
