El Tigre: The Adventures of Manny Rivera

Not to be confused with Nacho Libre

Manny Rivera is a 13-year-old Mexican boy who owns a magic belt that turns him into the super hero El Tigre whenever he puts it on. However, sometimes Manny uses his super powers for good - like his father, the White Pantera - and sometimes mischief - like his grandfather, Puma Loco.

This Nickelodeon cartoon translates pretty well to a videogame. The visuals are nothing a PS1 couldn’t handle and it plays out like a 2D platformer such as the first Crash Bandicoot, but it gets by on charm. You race against a backdrop of orange skies slashing banditos and collecting taco time bonuses, while joyous Mexican music plays throughout. The concept gets monotonous eventually, but the swift pace keeps it fun while it lasts, and should be satisfying for youngsters and fans of the show.
