Regardless of how the games were designed, from Ocarina of Time onwards the games seem to have naturally fit together anyway. I think it's probably a case of letting the Zelda nuts figure it out themselves and therefore do the work for you. When one theory makes sense, then Nintendo can just say "Yep, that was the timeline all along, you worked it out, well done!" I have a feeling that's what Ubisoft have been doing with Assassin's Creed ever since the weird ending of AC2... Anyway I hope this book comes out in the UK. It'd be cool to read an "official" history.

Aonuma gained back my respect (he lost it when he said he hadn't finished the first Zelda) Of course there wasn't a timeline in the beginning, it's Nintendo's way : Make games, not elaborated stories ! No I'm glad he admitted that =D

what I've always said, don't think of a timeline in Zelda. They are what they are, great games. Don't understand everyone's passion to find a link between each and every Zelda game.

Totally agree, the timeline is irrelevant - it's the mythos, the world, but most importantly the gameplay that matters.

Tell that to the rabid fanboys that nitpick every little detail. Like that guy of the gannon-busted site...
