Yes, that Netflix. Yes, that Castlevania. And frankly, with no major Castlevania games on the horizon, why the hell not?
i09 reports that, among the many, many other shows that Netflix has announced during a special event today, there exists a single sentence about this strange project:
"Castlevania Season 1, Part 1 Coming to Netflix in 2017."
Seriously, that's it. But Dredd producer Adi Shankar had posted on Facebook in August 2015 that he was working on a Castlevania mini-series with Fred Seibert and Kevin Klonde.
After Netflix's announcement Shankar posted this:
As far as talent goes it's a good lineup: Warren Ellis is a critically acclaimed comic book author who's written for 200AD, Marvel and DC. While in case you're not familiar with Shankar's work, here's the super grimdark Power Rangers short he released in 2015:
Speaking to Collider in 2015, Shankar said that the story will be based on Castlevania 3. "The goal is to bring hard hitting anime to America and be America’s first animated series for adults," he said.
