Mass Effect 3: Leviathan DLC - Developer interview

Bioware showed off a few bits of the Leviathan DLC expansion that will be coming out later this year at the EA Summer Showcase this week. Leviathan will task Shepard and his crew to find a mysterious creature that has been rumored to be capable of destroying a Reaper. This will lead players down a path to finding the location of the Leviathan through a series of clues and exploration not yet seen in the Mass Effect series. We had a chance to talk with the developers about the new features being added and got to see the DLC in action. Get all the details from our video interview below.

Mass Effect 3: Leviathan will be coming to Xbox 360, PS3 and PC this summer.

3 hours well its longer than me2 dlc at any rate, they were about an hourish in the main

It's hard to make anyone care about the story when they already know how it ends. They already have the Crucible, which can destroy all of the Reapers, and that's the entire plot. How will it make sense for Shepard to spend time running off looking for a different weapon to destroy Reapers anyway? It's not like I have a big problem with single-player dlc, the multiplayer is dead on PC (unsurprisingly) so I don't have any interest in multiplayer content, but not sure what they can even do at this point.

Well you could look at it from the perspective that given they don't know in the story that the crucible will even work any other possible weapon to use against them would be worth looking into. Also, since the extended cut DLC was released this content could possibly add some extra stuff to the endings that provided.

plus you get to fight WITH a reaper instead of AGAINST one. That right there is worth the price of admission in my book.

Dead on PC? How so? I still play on the PC and I don't have much problems finding games. As for the single player DLC, bring it on! I know the story is over but I don't see why we cant have more single player DLC. I mean there is so much of the story left to tell. Aria has not taken back omega for example dlc that allows you to play as aria would be awesome! BTW two of the weapons in this DLC pack came with the collectors edition.

Your comment has hit the bull's eye for me.

The PC multiplayer is doing just fine. I don't have any problems finding matches.

my only question is will this be free or will you have to pay for it?

DITTO. And what save game are we supposed to load for this?
  • PolarBearsInHeat - August 3, 2012 5:57 p.m.

800microsoft points, I think that converts to 10$ US

Ugh. I really don't think this should be paid for. My major issue with the Prothean DLC was not only was it on disc content, but ITS A MOTHERFUCKING PROTHEAN. Bioware kept insisting that he added nothing to the plot, BUT THE WHOLE SERIES REVOLVES AROUND REAPERS AND PROTHEANS. And this is going to delve into the origin of the Reapers? What? This is something the Catalyst should've given a quick summary about. Come on. I can appreciate that they're giving out more singleplayer content, but it's just difficult for me to grasp that in order to learn about why the story is what it is, you have to pay an EXTRA ten dollars. And I am satisfied with the EC endings so I'm not finding something else to bitch about with this game.

well normally I'd agree with you but i think Bioware has been pretty good to us with all the multiplayer DLC and the Extended Cut being free. Plus this DLC is supposed to be 3 hours long, (longer than any film in theaters right now) so I don't mind paying for it, i'll just have to wait a little bit longer to actually GET the money to pay for it.
