In case it hasn't become clear over the past few weeks (and if it hasn't, stop by and see us more often, we miss your face) it's Golden Joystick Awards season. The Golden Joystick Awards are the awards where you, the gaming public, choose which games deserve to win coveted titles such as Best Original Game - which, incidentally, is what I'm here to talk to you about today!
Some days it may seem like all we get is sequel after sequel after reboot after remaster. But some truly fantastic games built on original concepts were brought to life recently, including two personal favorites: Bloodborne and Sunset Overdrive. The former is a gothic horror-turned-Lovecraftian nightmare full of brutal but satisfying combat while the latter is a brightly-colored return to form for Insomniac Games, featuring some of the best platforming and movement mechanics I think I've ever had the pleasure of utilizing.
But those are just my two cents, and you are free to agree or disagree. Either way, just be sure to cast your vote for Best Original Game so you can make your voice heard and claim a copy of BioShock Infinite as a sweet little bonus.
