Go crazy, modders - Fallout: New Vegas mod tools are live

Now that Fallout: New Vegas has been finished, released, and is making its way around homes across the country, it's time to start messing around with it to make it even more interesting. Enter GECK.

Today, Bethesda Softworks released the New Vegas version of its mod tool, the Garden of Eden Creation Kit.

Above: The new sin city is about to be overtaken by sinners... er, modders

You gotta hand it to Bethesda and Obsidian - the game just came out and the new version of their comprehensive mod tool is already available. Before gamers even experience all New Vegas has to offer in a first run-through, they can start designing their own towns and dungeons, creating their own populations, and envisioning brand new items.

The Fallout: New Vegas edition of GECK can be downloaded from Bethesda also hosts a comprehensive wiki, so anyone who's interested can give modding a shot.

And for all of us who really don't want to go to the trouble, we just get to wait until all the Penis Caves and Boob People start making headlines.

sounds cool so finally a brain dead person like me can make a mod for a game and it even comes with instructions.

@EliteM0nk3y 1. GFWL is a TERRIBLE gaming client! Why on earth would you want to use it? 2. New Vegas will most likely have Steam Achievements.

Our review is coming soon. New Vegas is a big game, and while we did receive an advance copy, we did not receive it early enough to give it the attention it deserves in time for the launch.

Fallout 3 had some great mods, I'm sure this will too. And where's your guys' review? The games been out for two days already!

@db1331 LMAO! I had quite a while without reading the Xzibit just made me burst out laughing. In the other hand, the original FO3 was way more enjoyable with some of the mods out there, not just the graphics quality, you could enhance the whole gameplay (I'm just going over through the game again with a mod that...well, get shot, get killed). I really hope they squeeze the #$%^& out of this one.

The definitive reason why it's best to get the game on PC. And indeed all of Bethesda's crappy-looking-but-superb RPGs.

I'm slightly confused as to why a man who fairly recently wrote, "Nevertheless, it's a demonstrative example of why the PC gaming market is dying." Is writing pc focused articles.

    Awesome, this should certainly help.
  • EliteM0nk3y - October 21, 2010 12:45 a.m.

Man I wish MS would allows us 360 users to download mods. I would get the PC version but there is no way my laptop could handle it. Not to mention it isn't on GfWL, meaning I couldn't get achievements. Oh well I guess I have to wait for the DLC instead.

  • GiLLies180 - October 21, 2010 12:14 a.m.

Is the review going up anytime soon? I don't see why they wouldn't send you an advance copy, seeing as how you gave Fallout 3 game of the year. Is this just an internal problem?
