Game of Thrones isn’t Game of Thrones without a death or two (hundred) – and the season 7 finale was no different. Spoilers for the Game of Thrones season 7 finale follow...
Littlefinger’s death at the hands of Arya may have made for some cool TV, but it was a weird bait-and-switch on the face of it. Obviously the Stark siblings must have colluded at some point to confirm Littlefinger’s treachery but we never actually saw that. Turns out, it was left on the cutting room floor. Boo!
Isaac Hempstead-Wright, who plays Bran Stark, revealed to IGN that a scene between the new Three-Eyed Raven and the Lady of Winterfell, Sansa Stark, would have plugged the gap somewhat, but it was cut for some reason.
Thrones has history of showing off deleted scenes so maybe we’ll see it one day, but for now Hempstead-Wright’s description will have to do: “It was a battle between Sansa and Arya really, and it wasn't any of Bran's business until Sansa thought 'Why don't I fact check this with the best fact checker in the universe?' and Bran was like 'Littlefinger did this and this and this.'" That certainly helps explain why Bran was the one who dealt the hammer blow with his reveal of Littlefinger betraying Ned Stark way back in season 1.
Hempstead-Wright even speculated why it was cut suggesting it would have been a snug fit for the finale… probably: "It was going to be in the finale—I don’t know actually. I have no idea when that scene was. I think it would have been the last episode."
The moral of the story? When in doubt, always ask your younger, omniscient brother.

I'm the Senior Entertainment Writer here at GamesRadar+, focusing on news, features, and interviews with some of the biggest names in film and TV. On-site, you'll find me marveling at Marvel and providing analysis and room temperature takes on the newest films, Star Wars and, of course, anime. Outside of GR, I love getting lost in a good 100-hour JRPG, Warzone, and kicking back on the (virtual) field with Football Manager. My work has also been featured in OPM, FourFourTwo, and Game Revolution.
