I've always loved this as well...starting with that stack of perfect fourths on the organ, so dissonant and whacked out. I prefer this arrangement of Terra's theme to the normal one, as well. More mysterious and somber.

Oh. i Just love FF music. The scores for each game are epic and give a sense of vastness that is made by the games hugely open world environment and story. But this opening takes the cake, and i give rats off to elston for choosing this for Game music of the day. Look, there go the rats. Running around.

Thank you for introducing me to this epic piece of gaming history. Never played the game so I have no nostalgia for anything to do with it but this is awesome and clearly stands on its own. I absolutely love these articles, please keep them coming.

I've actually never played this game so I've never heard this opening theme and I must say that I now really want to track this game down. I remember seeing it at FRY'S for Playstation 1 like a month or two ago. Thank you Mr. Barratt

Obvious but awesome. I was using the RCA cables with my SNES at the time, and pulled a tape/phono stereo into my room in order to record this theme to cassette tape. Classic.
