Fallout: New Vegas gets its first DLC, 'Dead Money,' in December

You can soon add 'search for untold riches' to your Pip-Boy 3000's to-do list. Publisher Bethesda revealed details yesterday for 'Dead Money,' the first DLC add-on for Fallout: New Vegas. It looks to be a good ole fashioned treasure hunt for the holidays.

An Xbox LIVE exclusive, the new content will pair players with a band of motley wastelanders in search of the 'legendary treasure of the Sierra Madre Casino.'  It will also expand the epic RPG experience with new places to visit, fresh things to kill and more morally ambiguous situations to navigate

It will be interesting to see if Dead Money picks up immediately after the events at the end of New Vegas or if the first DLC will take GTA IV's Lost and the Damned route and introduce a whole new character entirely. We contacted Bethesda for a better idea of what to expect, but have yet to receive any further clarification.

Dead Money arrives December 21st for 800 Microsoft points (or roughly 1200 caps).

I hope it's like Broken Steel and let's you continue the story and doesn't actually end at the end of the game, Pissed me off when Fallout NV did that.

XBOX rules buying the rightd to exclusive DLC rights so more people will by there system. I had a PS3 when Fallout 3 DLC came out, I will not be shunned again. HaHaHa!!

Still no word on a patch then? Lets hope it'll roll around before this comes out.

This will be relevant when the dev figures out how to code New Vegas to be a playable game.

The interesting thing to know is if it's going to be made by Obsidian or Bethesda. Please let it be Obsidian!

I wish I could get this for 1200 caps! But I know I'll fork out the 10 bucks, the game is epic

This is the very reason I passed on picking up Fallout: New Vegas. If I can resist buying it for a year, there will almost certainly be a GOTY edition with all the DLC for D L Free.

Grrr... Ipay the same amount of money and wait the same amount of time for a game, just to be shunned to the side so Xbots can be happy. Timed or not I do not see the fairness in that at all I respect that consoles want excluses like MGS/Killzone and Gears/Halo but multiplatforms should remain fully that, multiplatform.

The nature of the exclusivity was not clarified: "first downloadable content for Fallout®: New Vegas™, will be available exclusively on Xbox LIVE® for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft beginning December 21, 2010." We have to assume for now, then, that it's entirely exclusive to the 360. But you know how they are with these things, I wouldn't be surprised if in a month it's announced for PS3/PC.

*extension of my last post* ...because it doesn't sound it.
  • Robx - November 18, 2010 9:22 p.m.

'Exclusive' as in, will be released first on X360 and then come over for PC / PS3 ?
  • spongejerk89 - November 18, 2010 9:21 p.m.

    I hope it's good.
