E3 2011: Catherine is sexy, horny, and just as bizarre in English as it was in Japanese

We've written a lot about Catherine. We've played through the import version (here) and even done a raucous FAP preview video (here). But E3 is the first place that we've seen it played after being mostly localized for the United States. We got a glimpse of the gameplay that happens in between the tower puzzle sections, many of which take place in bars where Vincent interacts with other characters within the world, often influencing what will happen later in his dreams, as well as which of the game's multiple endings Vincent will experience.

After a long night of drinking, Vincent wakes up next to Catherine, a girl who is not his girlfriend, Katherine. Needless to say, he is confused and needs some more alcohol to figure it out. Off to the bar! There, he can interact with his buddies, the other folks in the bar, and of course imbibe large amounts of alcohol. Doing so influences both the way the nightmare puzzle sequences play (he moves faster the more alcohol he drinks, for example), and the way that he interacts with the other characters (you can send snarky text messages to various people, including C/Katherine).

With an extremely intriguing story exploring themes of coming of age, fidelity, and the modern human condition, we're extremely excited to see this strange Japanese title making its way to the West.

I'd actually kill for a European release of this. Namely, I'd kill whoever decided that we don't get a release in the UK. Especially to get the pre-order bonus Boxer shorts.

I wish I'm on Atlus.. They all look so refine and intellect. I can make some really scary stuff. Hire me!

this really was a logical conclusion, atlus is a great game developer but the dev team all seem to be psychotic. Just play through megaten digital devil saga and you can see how drugs and insanity are the only two explanations

The drowned baby thing gets me nowadays. I know it's a nightmare, in a videogame, 2 degrees removed from reality, but I can't help it. Maybe it's cuz now I have 2 kids now (a 15 month old and a newborn). Just like the first trailer for Dead Island, which I loved. I'm not one of those uptight dicks that says that kind of thing is inappropriate and shouldn't be used, just that it has the intended effect on me. But the first thing I thought of in the Dead Island trailer was how shitty of parents they were for either: A)Running ahead of their kid from the zombie horde like that. B) Letting their little girl out of the room by herself when there's zombies running around, or C)Even if they didn't know there were zombies (I'm sure they weren't mentioned in the brochure), letting their daughter explore the island resort by herself at all. Haven't they heard of Natalie Holloway?
