Dreamworks Trying To Entice Tim Burton Onto Monsterpocalypse

Frequent Burton collaborator John August is already in negotiations to script the movie of the monster-packed, collectable miniatures game

Monsters in the game are inspired by Japanese creature features stars like Godzilla and Mothra. The game is so massively popular in the States, it has even spawned conventions and spin-offs. Gameplay takes place on game maps (with names like “Boulevard of Broken Dreams”. “Crossroads Crunch”, “Riverside Rampage” and “Smashville”), complete with buildings, dice wells and power zones, and players spawn, move and command their monster forces in battles against other monster armies.

Well, Burton has had experience of turning similar source material into a movie with Mars Attacks! (though it’s debatable how successful that particular celluloid translation was).
