Darksiders II delayed until August

THQ is keeping Death in the dark for two more months by pushing the release of Darksiders II to this August. The game was originally due in June, however the publisher said it is giving developer Vigil Games more time to make the game as slick as possible.

“This is great news for the team at Vigil, because it allows additional time for polish and to ensure that all aspects of Darksiders II meet the high-quality bar the team is targeting,” wrote THQ in its website update. “It’s just a short delay, but we promise the game you’ll have in August will be well worth the wait!”

THQ augmented the announcement with a Q&A, in which it insisted the Darksiders II delay has nothing to do with the recent layoffs at Vigil Games (mentioned in passing in Warhammer 40,000: Dark Millennium Online now just plain old Warhammer 40,000: Dark Millennium). It also assured fans that preorder incentives would not be affected, and the game's content and future DLC plans have remained unchanged.

Oddly, however, the publisher dodged its own question when it came to forecasting addition pushbacks, stating, “This small delay is to allow additional time for polish and bug fixing. As we’ve stated in numerous articles and videos, Darksiders II is substantially larger game than its predecessor and the ambition of this project requires extra time to polish to the high standards that Vigil Games and THQ are committed to.”

Vigil Games recently confirmed Darksiders II will ride with the Wii U later this year, and feature a control scheme exclusive to Nintendo's new system. Find out what else we know about the otherworldly sequel in Darksiders II - 7 things we learned from our hands-on.

This is surprisingly good news to me. I had to choose between preordering Diablo 3 or Darksiders 2, and I ended u picking Diablo 3 because I didn't have the money for both right away, but this'll give me quite a bit of extra time to get some cash together to shoot for the collector's edition of this game :D

Well, it's kind of a bummer, since I really can't wait for it. Still, it's release date being pushed back'll allow me more time to finish Anarchy Reigns, and Rising: Revengeance- if it ever gets a release date, that is.

Oh boy, this is going to put the game awfully close to sleeping Dogs, hrm... Still, better for them to take extra time than to release a broken game, so bravo.

I'm always game for this, since it's a problem nowadays for developers to "release now, patch later." I want my game to be a good, polished run through on the FIRST try the FIRST day I get it--not a month down the road where they fix that annoying/game-breaking glitch. And you mentioned Dark Millennium... oh, the pain is still there. Good thing it's at least still in production. There aren't enough Warhammer 40k games in the world.
