Darksiders 2 DLC season pass announced

According to an announcement from THQ today, Darksiders 2 fans will have the option of paying in advance for every piece of planned DLC at a discount.

Season passes are relatively common these days in major shooter franchises like Call of Duty and Halo, but rarely seen in action games like Darksiders.

The season pass will encompass all three currently planned DLC single-player packs which will be released one per month after the release of Darksiders 2.

In addition to this, ShopTHQ is holding a special sale which gives you the season pass absolutely free when you pre-order Darksiders 2 (full price up-front.) Which is a pretty spectacular deal, really. Sounds like it's time for on-the-fence gamers considering a purchase of D2 to do some soul searching.

It's not too surprising that THQ would be offering some great deals for D2, though. They've said in the past that they desperately need a hit game, and Darksiders 2 could definitely be that hit. From the looks of it, they're putting their full weight behind this one and praying for a home run.

This is EXACTLY the type of preorder bonus every game should have. If Borderlands 2 did this, I'd buy it immediately. As it stands, I'll just wait until the inevitable GotY edition. With steam sales, a little patience goes a long way, and developers who still want preorders need to start doing more things like this that make you feel like committing to their product.

I think any sort of seasonal pass is the best way to turn your favorite developer into a liability. You pay for a "great deal" but since they already have your money, they could just as well say "screw it". Anyway, their just going to coheres you into renewing, let alone increase bad consumer favored business practices. Oh well... A few will ruin the industry for the rest of us... Good thing I'm starting to clutch back on gaming. It's been going downhill for me as of late..

And just like that my interest in this game has gone down. After the bullshit fiasco that was SRT DLC I can't trust THQ anymore. I'll probably still end up buying it but chances are I will just wait until it goes down in price.

Kind of Strange, but I am already preordering the game anyway.

I'm done with pre-ordering, especially when they do things like this. Why? Because in a year you'll be able to get the game plus all of the DLC in a GOTY pack, or if it's on PC, for 75% off. Hell, you can buy Deus Ex HR and all the DLC right now on Steam for under $20, less than a year after it's release.

Only a few of these games get a special pack the next year and discounts on consoles are pretty scarce. Although your point is valid for PC gamers because of Steam, when you buy for consoles these deals are advantageous.
