“We’re just trying to think how this could turn really dark…”: Watch GamesRadar+ play The Last Day of June!

WARNING: SPOILERS FOR THE LAST DAY OF JUNE BELOW

The Last Day of June is a touching game in many ways. A tale of long-lost love, death, and trying to turn back the bitter hands of time...or, as we found out, is mainly disturbing for its hollow-eyed characters and the sound of guns firing in the distance. We tried to piece together exactly what went so wrong in the bespectacled man’s life to lead to his wife’s death, and at the same time taking a trip into the past to stop the awful event from happening.

From adorable dogs the size of a small child to grown adults who are also the size of a small child, the world outside is not entirely as we imagined it. Navigating the various intertwining lives of the speechless characters is somewhat bewildering at times, but we try our best to step into the shoes of a small child and wistful lover and understand just how many factors contributed to our wife’s tragic demise. The Last Day of June has you witness small vignettes scattered through your small village, adding some poignancy to the moment when you step into its citizen’s shoes and figure out how to stop events that are already in motion. A stray football accidentally thrown into the road by a child, tumbling boxes - both have a much deeper story behind them. We try our best to save our wife and - well, you’ll have to watch the video to see how it turns out!
