This is completely ridiculous. I can't see what Platinum would have to gain by it.

Well, money, for one... I'm pretty sure Nintendo forked some good sum of cash to make this happen. And while I don't like this turn of events, considering Platinum doesn't exactly have great luck concerning video game sells, Can't say I'd blame them if taking such an offer could help keep them afloat. As long as they don't become an exclusive developer for Nintendo, I think I can live with this.

But aren't they likely to make more money by making the game multiplatform?
  • BladedFalcon - September 14, 2012 8:18 a.m.

It depends, really. Yes, if you go multi-platform, you're going to sell far more copies, but if you get a deal to release it as an exclusive game, you get a lot of certain money from the get-go. And Multi-platform games tend to be more profitable for a third party PUBLISHER, not so much for the developer.

I'm not gonna lie, that's disappointing to hear. I had no immediate plans to try and get a Wii U, but I guess I'll have to rethink that.

Since I planned on getting the WiiU AND I stand by this sites 10/10 for the first Bayonetta, this news makes me very very excite.
  • KnowYourPokemon - September 13, 2012 9:58 a.m.

Really happy to see Nintendo show off games like this to all the people who claimed the WiiU would be another "shovelware" console that third party devs wouldn't care about.
  • shawksta - September 13, 2012 9:35 a.m.

Nice, loved the original and glad to see it will be handled well. First legends now Bayonetta, Third party exclusives are really surrounding the Wii U to make people jealous
  • archnite - September 13, 2012 9:12 a.m.

God damnit NINTENDO this is literally the one thing you could have done to make me care about your dumb half console. Did you have to take Bayo away?!
  • n00b - September 13, 2012 8:36 a.m.

damn you nintendo. now i have to get your system well played
  • BladedFalcon - September 13, 2012 9:24 a.m.

Well... thinking about it, games like No More Heroes and such DID get ported to the PS3 later on... So I still retain hope that while not immediately, Bayonetta 2 could get eventually ported to other consoles.
  • PleasantPig - September 13, 2012 9:58 a.m.

It's being published by Nintendo though. I can see this becoming Nintendo's flagship hardcore exclusive franchise.
  • BladedFalcon - September 13, 2012 10:10 a.m.

Hrm, published by Nintendo? yeah, that complicates matters -.- Well, it's a hard blow, but not nearly enough to convince me to get what already feels like an inferior machine to current gen consoles, let alone upcoming next gen ones...
  • rxb - September 13, 2012 11:02 a.m.

Totally agree with this, I'll just live in hope.
  • Talvari - September 13, 2012 8:34 a.m.

Interested to see how they incorporate the gamepad into this, if they do at all. I'd be happy if this was on the same level as bayonetta if not better.
  • archnite - September 13, 2012 9:14 a.m.

With Bayonetta being a fast paced action game I can;t image looking down being useful when the importance is on graceful dodging and fast attacks. Maybe it will just be the menus to eliminate the loads on the pause.
  • BladedFalcon - September 13, 2012 8:24 a.m.

Well this is a big effing bummer for me. Oh well, at east I'm still getting Revengeance, which is shaping up to be just as good, if not better than Bayonetta.
  • filipe-alves - September 13, 2012 8:22 a.m.

Well that's a shame to those who liked the first one and won't be able to play it on the Wii U. I for one didn't care a lot about this game so no big loss for me.
