Batman: Arkham City Nightwing DLC swooping in with new maps and skins November 1

Batman: Arkham City players won't have to wait long to get their hands on the Boy Wonder and his alternate - and more badass - ego, Nightwing. Warner Brothers Interactive today confirmed that the latter Nightwing Bundle Pack will be ready for download as soon as November 1, with the Robin DLC to follow weeks later on November 22.

As previously hinted in a leaked trophy list, Nightwing will join the game as a playable character sporting new moves and gadgets in Arkham City's challenge maps. His DLC will also include two new challenge maps, Wayne Manor and Main Hall, as well as an alternative Animated Series version of the Nightwing costume. It will retail for $6.99 (560 Microsoft Points).

For the same price, players can also pick up the Robin character pack on November 22. The follow-up DLC will also offer new challenge maps and skins, and is currently available a pre-order bonus at Best Buy in the US, and at Gamestop in the UK. Watch Batman's protégéin action in this European trailer:

Oh, and remember Batman? He'll be playable too in the actual full game when it arrives October 18 in North America and on October 21 in the UK.

I hate to break it to you Super Barn Owl but the Avengers game was cancelled

I don't really care if the DLC is being released so soon after the game drops. Sure that means they probably could've put it in the final version. But for a game that I will probably love so much, I'd willingly put down a few extra bucks for new experiences in it.

I don't mind Rocksteady releasing these characters as DLC. I think the game is going to be awesome and i want to pay them to keep making more great games. I already preordered to get robin so im looking forward to Nightwing. This game is going to be sweet. I have a huge nerd boner right now!!

How are you guys so sure that this was intentionally left off the retail product and moved to dlc? Maybe they started work on it after the game had gone gold, which I believe it already has.

This game won't even matter once the Avengers film game is released next year, so it makes sense they milk every penny they can out of it this year

Because everyone knows movie-based games are always successful. Now, I love Marvel a little more than DC, but Batman is the best superhero ever. This game won't be surpassed by a movie game.

I like Dick Grayson, but I'll settle for Catwoman and Batman. I'll get my Dick-fix (!) from the comic book store.

Happy but that we are getting more of a "bigger" game, but yeh fairly obvious this is being done for Rocksteady and the publishers to make money. Another thing no mention of the "Jokers Carnival DLC" which can also be pre-order at certain stores, i.e Tesco...when is that out?!!

I like all the looks of the characters in this game version...except for one. They managed to do the damn near impossible with making Robin not look quite so stupid, but this Nightwing....ugh. Now that is the true Dork Knight. Maybe Dick Grayson just wouldn't be Dick Grayson without getting the worst looking outfits in all of superhero land.

    Dick is hard.

With all the pre-order stuff and dlcs spread over the retailers it seems like this is going to be one huge (inevidable) Game of the Year edition. I might wait for it then as I have no money right now.

Looks like most of the DLC for Arkham City will be challenge maps and skins, much like Arkham Asylum was. This is good news for my wallet as I couldn't give a damn about challenge maps or skins. Single player content however..
  • ChiChiRocket - October 11, 2011 11:11 a.m.

My issue with this is that I could either keep my Gamestop pre-order and keep my Batman TAS skin, or roll it over to Best Buy and get the Robin stuff for free now. My worry is that I'll be done with Arkham City by then and I won't feel all that inclined to get this DLC.

Don't get me wrong, I'm psyched to be able to play Dick, but DLC two weeks after release? This is another case of parts of the game they hold back intentionally just to make more money. Now I have to spend $120 just on this game to get everything out of it...

loves and hates this news so much. glad to play as nightwing but DLC so soon? put it in the f***ing game for christ sake! at least make the first DLC free! this game will be the best game ever for 20 days but seriously, 10 days into release is just not cool.

Oh dear, he looks like a sad, emo child.
