Much like how Super was overused for SNES games, they also used the 64 (N64) and Advance (GBA) titles way too often.

"Hero" and "Heroes" is used an awful lot too. Obviously, not everyone can be a hero...

In the case of Wipeout 2097 I'm pretty sure they chose the year because it was 101 years after the release date of the game, no clue about the others though....

Super Empire Strikes Back was INDEED super! Great game! I still own it and the other 2 fabulous Super Star Wars games. An HD update should be made for those and they should be released as a trilogy. Oh, and you left out RETURNS: Batman Returns, Lightning Returns, Superman Returns, The Mummy Returns, Return Of The King, Shadowrun Returns, Return Fire...

Even worse is when a game is a reboot of a franchise...and it's just named...the first game of the franchise. See Tomb Raider and Prince of Persia. I think Apple started this horrible trend when they called the new iPad....iPad. Oh and while I'm at it....the word "New" belongs in a supermarket, not on a game. And "returns" it just asking for the game to returned. And lastly, please stop calling the regular edition "Special Edition" because it is by no means as special as the "Limited Edition".
  • Vonter - March 24, 2014 5:07 p.m.

Don't you feel ripped off when a game has the tag of Complete edition? Or the Game of the year edition? Which basically translates to "the one with the DLC".
  • jedisamurai - March 25, 2014 11:49 a.m.

Nah I'd feel ripped off if I had bought the Special Edition or Limited Edition and THEN saw the Complete Edition or whatever a year later. I don't feel ripped off because I usually wait at least a year before buying a new game unless it's something I really, REALLY want to play (paid full price for the original GRID and Child of Eden).

A long-overdue article. Well done, Mr. Houghton.
