Easily one of the best genre ideas ever! If a developer included every point mentioned in this article, it could be the best game of the decade!
  • philipshaw - July 9, 2010 9:46 a.m.

We already had something like this with Batman: Arkham Aslyum but I know what you mean that an actual prison game could be amazing
  • joabbuac - July 9, 2010 9:04 a.m.

Go download Mdickies hard time....its free...and not very good atall....but has some awesome ideas if it wasnt made by just one guy. Alot of your ideas are in there. You get time added on for being bad too.

Prison Break: The Game. This is an incredibly weird article: it's basically a design pitch, but with a lot more "Imagine if".
  • Cwf2008 - July 9, 2010 6:35 a.m.

Of course on GR can make something boring like a prison game sound like the next AAA blockbuster. MUST HAVE THIS GAME NOW! reCAPTCHA: paroles west

Prison game. Made by Valve. Completely badass.
  • AshesOfTheWake - July 9, 2010 5:36 a.m.

If I'm not mistaken, Batman Arkham Asylum was a lot like a prison game on Alcattraz. It was always a friggen wonderful game.
  • DriveShaft - July 9, 2010 5:28 a.m.

This would be amazing. Even imagine if you were running the prison scams and deals like red in Shawshank Redemption, passing shivs through laundry. Maybe even getting visits from the outside etc. They could even have you escape the prison at some point.

lol holy shit the boss battles with the psychopaths could be pants shittingly scary. a good explanation for the fact that getting shot in the face wouldnt kill them is that they survived execution and were just put in high security areas. and they could look inhuman. like a guy who lived through the chair or lethal injection. lol the last boss could have a steel plate in his head or be the warden. As for minigames....... Death Race comes comes to mind. XD lololol someone needs to call Rockstar right now. Oh, and they shouldnt make it like manhunt cause it was wierd, i mean they could make it kinda scary, but not so much as it leaves action and becomes horror. also throw in a few comical scenes early on of someone trying to rape your dude. XD little do they know he has the brute strength of niko. and think of the possibilities for the annoying sidekick- (in the middle of a prison raid) HEY NIKO! LETS GO BOWLINGGGGGGG! *BAM BAM BAM*. Problem solved.
  • Ruvalc - July 9, 2010 2:44 a.m.

it would be great "but" it will be a law full game lots n lots of suing... by ignorant people
  • Crimsonkingx - July 9, 2010 1:16 a.m.

I have thought of this before actually. I wanted to make a game called "Wii Prison". Wii remote can be used for so many different things! I know all the kids would just go wild over the Shank and soap attachments that came bundled with the game. THINK ABOUT IT!
  • HotCyder - July 9, 2010 12:43 a.m.

I'm sure you mean the stylized, movie version of prison where you do odd jobs for powerful inmates and corrupt guards, more then real prison which is like living in a depressing hamster cage right? A monkey island style point click version of Shawshank Redemption I'd buy - especially if the Tell Tale guys were on it.

    If I could pre-order now, I would.
  • Sickooo - July 8, 2010 11:13 p.m.

could be a very good game if done rite
  • TheWebSwinger - July 8, 2010 10:11 p.m.

Sup with this article's headline? Gamesradar, are you hitting on me?
  • Vitoruss1 - July 8, 2010 9:53 p.m.

Oh yeah, and the last thing-- They should never say why the main character is in the jail in the first place. Leave it the way that Calvin's "noodle incident" was left.
  • Vitoruss1 - July 8, 2010 9:51 p.m.

Oh, by the way- the hostage situations thing reminded me a lot of Zsaz from Batman: AA, but it would be awesome if when you initiated them, you could choose different claims and demands and then raise or lower the quantities (stakes?) for said demand in order to balance out the negotiations.
  • Vitoruss1 - July 8, 2010 9:47 p.m.

Sounds very arkham-asylumy to me. I'm feeling the main villain be a cruel, badass prison guard who looks a lot like Tommy Lee Jones in No Country for Old Men or maybe an evil 'Nurse Ratched' character. The entire game would probably be "in the middle of a riot", though, seeing as hanging out in a cell all day doesn't sound like too much fun. Splinter Cell: Double Agent had a good jail level.
