We never really doubt whether best friend Ziggy (endearing non-pro Eugene Byrne) can finagle someone – be it the school slapper or local massage parlour – into letting bedridden Robbie ‘go out with a bang’, but it’s a fun guessing-game.
Both plotting and playing are a bit ragged and the visuals are telly-tastic, but the film’s fresh, unvarnished take on male friendship is altogether winning.
